I can only go by a conversation I had with my niece when she was 12 (13 now), and my own memories of my childhood, when I came to grips with the reality of African-Americans and homosexuals not being what the current societal norms said they were.

Perhaps they should accurately describe the addadicktome and lopadickoffame procedures to them.  I think that they would probably get the point better then.

 

The thing is, gender reassignment is pretty much an adult thing and in my opinion a choice.  A child that hasn't even gone through puberty has no idea what gender he/she "identifies" with.  At that point they don't even know their whole sexuality preference as far as being gay or straight.

 

I do believe that people who are transgender and possibly even gays are influenced by their upbringing and early influences.  Am I saying that parents make their children gay or encourage them to be transsexuals?  No, but I do have a hard time believing that a child who has not even been through puberty "knows" that they should be the opposite sex and/or be attracted to the same sex.  I do believe that the majority of that is based on upbringing and today's social media.

 

One other thing that would be interesting to study and research.  How many people that are transsexual had difficult childhoods?  My guess is that there are many.

I fully agree. Talking about transgedners to children is not right. I would like to see a study done on tranagenders from high wage family's compared to low wage families. I know the income may be a part of it but from my experience most transgender tend to be poor.

Part of the article also points out that brain anatomy can be influenced by life/environmental experiences.  In a sense, we don't know exactly what gives us consciousness as we understand it.  It's hard to say what is environmental, experiential, etc. etc. etc.  One of the most complex aspects of our consciousness is our sexuality, all you have to do is give a quick google search to balloon popping or puffy jackets to see how diverse and yet singular some expressions of sexuality are.  

 

This is not an impertinent topic.  Why?  because the leading indicator for the success of offspring is the two parent household.  One of the strongest foundations of long term successful relationships are...  you guessed it...  GENDER ROLES.  Gender roles are essential to maintaining healthy romantic heterosexual relationships.  As men are seen by women as weak, incapable of protecting them etc. then their natural romantic attraction to them dies.  as such about 35-40 percent of marriages today are devoid of intimacy, and nearly half end in divorce.  

 

The gender roles of the parents then become templates for the children.  As the relationships of the parents are destroyed then the influence on the offspring is disrupted creating adverse inferences on the part of the child.  Just ask a woman who didn't have a great relationship with her father.  

 

Within an organism, as the copies of DNA held within the cell nuclei become eroded then the duplicated cells within the organism become less perfect over time.  We call this AGING.  

 

As the structure of the nuclear family erodes over time then the resulting offspring begin to exhibit more and more unhealthy behavior.  We call this societal decay.  In both the singular sense of the organism or the macro sense of a society or country the end result is the same.  It's just a matter of time.

If you look at facts instead of bull manure you will see trans people are actually far more at risk than some jack hole who fears for their daughter or wife being in a bathroom with a person born with male parts who has the self image and perception of being a woman. What do people go to the bathroom to do? #1 and #2. That is the same for all people regardless of age, sex, religion or if they happen to be transgender. All this mularkey about predators has been debunked a thousand times. Being an uptight person who thinks this is something people are choosing to do does not make the reality of the situation any different. People are not being in attacked in bathrooms by trans people. But trans people are certainly being attacked for "being in the wrong bathroom." It happened recently at UNF.
