The untold truth about the SEC's 7 straight national titles

#21

Quote:The BCS did it's job and is better than what came before.

The BCS was put in place to simply assure that #1 played #2. And for the most part that's what has happened. Sure there have been years where there has been some disagreements as to who should be #2, but mostly we got what we wanted.

Before the BCS came about, we'd have #1 in the Rose Bowl and #2 playing in the Orange bowl, or some such. Very frustrating.

The old bowl tie-ins meant something?
Like what? Before college football was "nationalized" it was cool to see teams from different regions play each other, and the bowl system has been good for college football, especially before college football became the multi-bajillion dollar business that it is now. But I don't know that it meant anything other than entertainment.

And while I'm looking forward to the playoff, watch out what you wish for. They'll still be much grinding of teeth as to whom should play in it. No matter how many teams you add.
To the teams and the fans is what I am referring to.  It used to mean you won your conference to go to one of the big 3 bowl games.  It really wasn't that long ago either.  I remember how happy Gator fans were to finally be going to the Sugar Bowl.  Now if it is not for National Championship the game is an after thought.

Quote:Okay, I read the bolded portion and then your post immediately had the voice of a Central American Dictator. Made reading it a lot more fun.

Sorry if this isn't true copycat, but you are now Manuel Noriega in my head.

Oh great, now I am doing it too.   :thanks:

Fun, aint it?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Quote:Lol at this crap. Florida in 2006 would shut down Boise State. Florida's offense wasn't that great that  year, but their defense was very good. Just because Boise State beat an above average Oklahoma team doesn't mean they'd beat Florida.

The 2008 Florida team may possibly be the best team of the BCS era. That team was absolutely LOADED. They held the number one scoring offense in the HISTORY of college football to 14 points. Utah played an uninspired Alabama team and beat them. Big deal. No way Utah stays within four TDs of 2008 UF.

I don't see why you're making an argument against 2009 Alabama. They knocked Colt McCoy out of the game. That's part of football.

I was gonna start writing but you did it for me, so thanks for that.

Also I'm under the impression this post was just made(Just like all this Stanzi dudes posts) to make people angry and whatnot, so isn't that somewhat of an intentional trolling which is not allowed in this forum?
