Regarding the current draft slots,  because the Lions would win the NFC North if the season ended today,  the Lions would be further down in the draft than pick # 20.   The top 20 picks would be for teams that wouldn't reach the playoffs.

 

In terms of the C.J. Mosley selection,  if the Lions drafted him in Round 1,  at present it would be a BAP selection,  not a need pick. Both DeAndre Levy and Stephen Tulloch are having very good seasons.   In the majority of games,  Lions use a nickel back more often than a 3rd LB.
