Charley Casserly: "No way Myles Jack is going to Jacksoville at 5"

Quote:Huh? We picked Myles Jack at #36. Yep, the fifth pick ... In the second round.

Quote:Yep, the fifth pick ... In the second round. So you need to say it is the fifth pick in the second round.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:The man was correct sort of. Yeah but we always hear/read "36th pick" so nobody stops to think "fifth pick in second round."

Things are trending upward under general manager Dave Caldwell, however. Jacksonville got a break this year. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey fell to them at the No. 5 spot. Linebacker Myles Jack fell to them in the second round. Both are considered top-five talents.
Do you think Skuta risks being released if he doesn't restructure his contract for a lower pay now that he is being replaced by Myles Jack (whom was a 2nd round pick but they viewed as a first)?

![]() Myles Jack will run through you or stop you from through him your choice - @PAC12Network How fast is Myles Jack exactly? I mean he said his knee was only 80% ready and therefore he didn't run the 40 at his workout. “Once I put the helmet on, I change,” he said. “Football is a dangerous sport. People are out there trying to get you. My mentality is either him or me. And it's not going to be me that's going to get got. I always try to be aggressive and be the dominant person in every situation. I am a boring person off the field. I sit at home and play video games when I am not in here working out. But on the field, you have to rev yourself up, bring on that demon inside of you, not like a demon, but an alter ego. Once you put on the helmet, you're a warrior. Off the field, I am a cool person, but on the field you can assault people and not get in trouble for it.” ------------------- CBS Sports wrote; When I asked one NFL general manager if he compared favorably to former Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis, the general manager had this to say: “Yes, but Jack is faster.” “When I hear I am compared to him, I am kind of like, ‘slow down, put on the brakes,''' Jack said. “I have to earn that. I have to climb the ladder before I can be mentioned with him, my name and his name in the same breath. He'll be remembered for generations. Everybody knows Ray Lewis. You can't compare yourself to idols. You want to model your game after it, but comparing me to him is too fast. I want to get there, but slow down.” --------------------------- Currently at 6'1" 243lbs he is the same height and only 7 lbs less than Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis ran a 4.58-second 40-yard dash at his pro day back in 1996, and many feel that Myles Jack is a lot faster. WoW! We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:What is his 2016 salary? Skuta played through the issue for much of the season's second half. Going on 30, Skuta played just 430 snaps this season. His $3.6 million salary for 2016 makes him a candidate for a restructure or release. Jan 7 - 4:35 PM
Source: Ryan O' Halloran on Twitter

Quote:Do you think Skuta risks being released if he doesn't restructure his contract for a lower pay now that he is being replaced by Myles Jack (whom was a 2nd round pick but they viewed as a first)? I highly doubt it. At worst he's good depth. You really want Armbrister out there again if something goes wrong?
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote: Skuta might not be replaced by Jack right away. Skuta also will be getting some snaps at LEO and his 3.6 mil salary isn't a concern. I imagine Skuts and Poz are in their last years of Jags uni's this year. But no reason to cut bait with either of them yet. Especially with the uncertainty surrounding Jack's knee.
Quote:I highly doubt it. At worst he's good depth. You really want Armbrister out there again if something goes wrong? This is why we drafted Jack: there was a huge hole at the Sam position. With him on the roster, we can demote Skuta and cut Armbrister. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:I highly doubt it. At worst he's good depth. You really want Armbrister out there again if something goes wrong? I will be shocked if Armbrister is on the roster by week 1. Quote:Agreed. Which is why I doubt Skuta is on the chopping block. It was hard to watch Skuta last year knowing all the money that they had given him and he was bad against the run, and I don't remember doing any kind of pass rush - so not sure why he's being considered as a LEO when his coverage wasn't great either...
Quote:Skuta might not be replaced by Jack right away. Skuta also will be getting some snaps at LEO and his 3.6 mil salary isn't a concern. I highly doubt that Skuta will be cut, because of the guaranteed money but he certainty won't be starting in any role... unless he comes out and just shocks us all in preseason or something.. I really like Poz on and off the field, but he is getting old & has been thru a few injuries each year for the last few. I expect him to start & play most of the entire season but the team could use good depth at MLB this year and going fwd. I think that MLB might be an area of interest in next year's draft (especially if Poz starts to talk about retirement). |
