Curt Schilling fired over NC Bathroom law

My point is that I recognize men in a bathroom with little girls is a bigger concern than women. Can lesbians be predators? Sure. But I haven't heard as many women kidnapped and impregnated by lesbian stories.

It goes back to the concept of sex specific bathrooms in general.

Look, there's no difference in males and females. In fact, there's really no such thing, it's all just a societal construct to keep the poor poor and the rich lighting their cigars with hundred dollar bills. Men are women are boys are girls are dogs are trees are dirt are MIlky Way bars. Nothing is real and if you think it is then you're the one with a problem.

Perhaps I should start using the female restroom when I need to make "ploppies" since they reportedly have the "Cadillac toilet seats".  After all, that would make me feel "the most comfortable".   Rolleyes

Quote:So you negate the legitimacy of what it means to be transgender? Because you lack understanding or compassion, you would force a woman born with male parts to go into the men's room in heels and a dress. You don't see how that puts a transgender person in a dangerous position? Or you just don't care? What if they got rid of the equipment?
And yet you negate the feelings of men or women that may feel uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with a person of the opposite sex.  You continue to fail to acknowledge that there are sick individuals who will take advantage of your ideal of compassion.  The concern or fear that some perverted individual in a dress claiming to be a transgender will slip into a woman's bathroom with a cell phone to take photos and post them on the internet or even worse is of no concern to you because transgendered people must be accepted at all cost.  You might want to consider that compassion works both ways.

I gotta admit, I'm enjoying reading this debate. All the fear mongers are getting blown the heck out.

There really is no true debate here. From a public safety prospective, it would cause more anger and violence for a trans to use the "gender correct" bathroom.

From a political/policy perspective, this is yet another hypocritical failure by the conservative fear mongers. There are already sexual predator laws. This law is merely a cynical ploy to find a new wedge issue, and of course, it's blowing back on them.
I am glad you brought this up.  How is this any different than new laws that specify discrimination against LBGT when there are already anti-discrimination laws on the books?

If that were true why have you been using the men's room all these years for?  Oh..  I get it.  Failed attempt at humor.

If you self-identify as a woman, I assume you dress like a female.  Hair. Nails. Shoes. Make up.  If that's you, please..  plop away.

If that's NOT you, then you are just being antagonistic.  Much like these uptight losers who are agitating the situation by staking out bathrooms and reporting obvious facts.   "The doors are just open." "Anybody could walk in there."

I will try to set out a simple set of facts for you.  I will number them to clearly isolate which one(s) -- if any -- you would like to dispute.

1.  Trans people are not attacking anyone.

http://mic.com/articles/114066/statistic....K8GRI2KtK

2. Roughly 70% of trans people have been harassed for going to the bathroom.  And roughly 9% have experienced some sort of physical assault.  I can direct you to pages 71 through 79 of this study. (Depending on how in depth you would like to learn about the degrees of harassment and assault)

http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp...e-2013.pdf

3. It's not only unsafe for trans people in bathrooms.  They are intimidated and attacked in all sorts of places.  Here is a video of harassment and physical violence on a trans person on a NYC subway just this week.  It's quick to see the woman being filmed is agitated, unstable and possibly drunk..  But that looks like a pretty full car.  Be sure to also note that NOBODY intervenes to try to diffuse the situation. (I suspect you wouldn't do anything in this situation either.  Just a hunch.)

http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/trans...gs.gnCOoHA

4. People whole-heartedly believe in this boogeyman which does not exist.  (Since I just know you or some other poster will scoff at some of these sources I have linked to, I will link to a FOX video -- also from this week.)  I hate this guy.  But this woman is one of the head cheerleaders for this absurd crusade.  Just like some members on this board, I want you to listen to how quickly she rejects facts to promote this irrational fear that has gripped so many.

"Anyone in that room is more in danger of a gun going off accidentally than some alleged predator.."  "Can you tell me where there's been increased incidents predators or crime because of these laws?"  (I searched longer than I would have liked for those 20 incidents she referenced in response to this question on their website..  Please link to it if you can find what the hell she's referencing, cuz I don't see them.)   "no additional instances..  it seems like a solution in search of a problem."

Her response:  Be afraid!  Buy a gun and for God's sake watch the cracks in bathroom stalls!!!

http://video.foxnews.com/v/4876133468001...show-clips

5. When it comes to this subject.  People are ignorant and bigoted on this subject right here in Jax (not only on this message board).  Sometimes you call these people losers.  Sometimes you call them Mom.

http://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/.../259046220

http://mic.com/articles/142209/a-trans-t....0Q2BmW50K

So..  you can reserve the right to be afraid of something that is not happening anywhere, despite the logic you can draw to say it "might" happen.  I will repeat.  It is not happening.  If you just 'don't get' why someone would be trans, congratulations for being totally straight.  Perhaps that aversion, dislike, what-have-you will reinforce the belief that nobody would actually choose to be this way if they had a choice.  If you are simply not comfortable with the idea of a trans person sharing a bathroom with your female family members, I will refer you to fact 1.  I will also note, nobody seems concerned about people born female using the men's room, because the people who are the most uptight on this matter also seem to have an excess of machismo. You have the right to believe whatever you want about trans people.  They are demon possessed, confused, wrong, sick, who cares...  But when you use this dislike, uncertainty or immaturity of what it TRULY means to be transgender..  when you dehumanize these people by making light of the reality they live in..  when you prop up a false argument as grounds to discriminate...  don't expect every straight guy to let it slide or allow you to perpetuate falsehoods.  (Especially if they are your kids or friends of your kids, because the majority of them find this to be a non-issue and don't get the fuss..)

So..  tell me where my logic is flawed.  To NOT be afraid of something that ISN'T happening (it's like the opposite of climate change).  To stand beside people who get rejected and harrassed practically every day because this argument against their civil rights has been debunked time and again..  What am I missing?  Why should I be afraid?

Okay.  Why isn't this happening then?  Some of these laws have been in place for decades.  The fear you have is what "might" happen.   But it isn't. Why is that? Is it possible your fears or concerns have been planted by, I don't know, paid lobbyist groups and conservative media outlets who have been perpetuating a "what if" that is not occurring? Women and kids have been attacked in bathrooms since the invention of bathrooms.  Because men are violent.  They commit 90% of the violence worldwide.  If we are being honest, if you were in a room with your female family members, 9 of your straight male friends and a trans person, you would be wise to be afraid of one of your straight male friends.  Because roughly 1 in 10 has it in them to inflict some degree of violence upon women whereas trans people have a virtual zero on the scale when it comes to being aggressors of violence.   Feel free to challenge any of the facts I listed in the post above which are clearly numbered if you would like to explain why these "concerns" or "fears" are rational.

As usual..  you don't challenge any of the clearly numbered facts which you would like to challenge.  You are just being a troll.  (who could have predicted...)

So I am going to just start posting random incidents of violence against LGBT people in any response I give to you.  I'm guessing by my hundredth example of me trying to humanize this issue with you, you will have changed 0% because you cannot [BLEEP] read.  Here's a two-timer for you to start.

There aren't LGBT protections in Jax. Police cannot enforce discrimination laws which don't exist.

But they are happening.   A quick search pops up page after page after page (I acknowledge that I did not read them and acknowledge that several will be repeats) but don't say it is not happening.

Show me one law on the Jacksonville charter that allows discrimination.

Since it's such a 'quick search' I'm certain you can provide link after link of incidents of men dressing as women and attacking women and/or kids.

Make sure to note: jj the troll identified a single instance earlier in the thread of a registered predator and a failed attempt of what you describe. Clearly an epidemic of this proportion would be well documented.

The first two after typing "men dressed as women attacking women"  Feel free to continue the research.  It is happening maybe not as often as a murder in Chicago but it is happening regardless of whether you acknowledge it or not.

Today in Jax if a person is kicked out of a restaurant, fired, evicted or denied public accommodation because of their sexual identity, they have no grounds for recourse. I know a southern, white Christian male who is former military and was recruited to relocate to Jax for a sales role. He took the lowest performing region in the country and made it a top 3 market and was still fired simply for being gay. He had no grounds to fight that discrimination.

It's not in the charter, but it's in the fiber of this city. Cross burnings were a regular occurrence at Vilano Beach just a few decades ago. When marriage equality passed nationally, our clerk of courts unilaterally decided to halt ALL marriage ceremonies in a government building (NOT a house of worship). It costs our city roughly $50K a year at a time where our debt has caused our credit rating to drop.

No one here condones violence against anyone. No one ever suggested anything of the like.

What you did say is that a straight normal man at 1:00 shouldn't be able to buy a wig and claim trans status at 1:30 because some hogtie walked into a bathroom!
