I listen to Hicken and Prosser each morning on the way to work. So when I get in my car in the afternoon, it is still on the station. The afternoon show with Frangie, Ackerman and Martineau is as bad as I expected. The last two times it came on, they were talking about college football. First they were going through the lines on each game from week one and picking winners. Then they were debating if the ACC is close to the SEC. Horrid. But that was not even the worst thing I heard. To hear Frangie try to talk about Draymond Green, and comparing him to Horace Grant was just awful.

I don't really get the hate for the station as a whole.  I don't mind everything up until The Frangie show coming on.  Having to listen to them talk about who the 5 most improved teams in the NFL this offseason was a bit atrocious.  Martineau and Ackerman both said Oakland, which is fine if you are able to back it up....it just sounded like they were pulling teeth to try and get there.

 

I actually like Hacker...sure he's annoying with some of his quirks, but I think it makes it entertaining.  T Wigg talking down to him can be annoying at times as well....T Wigg name drops as much as Frangie at times....lol.

 

In general though I really like it.  It's better than listening to the other crap on the radio.

I listened for quite a bit yesterday afternoon. There was very little talk about my Florida Gators. Lots of talk about FSU and the ACC as a whole, not to mention other things not Gator. I am furious.

I have to agree. Overall, it is lacking quite a bit. I get why they have it, and promote it, but it needs some work.

Ballou going on at noon might make that show listenable... Might. I literally shut my radio off from noon-3 everyday at work.


The new girl on The Drill seems to be finding her footing. She had a real rough start and had a few cringe worthy updates. She would start fine and then you could hear her getting nervous and then limping through the rest of the way. One of the updates she completely froze up in the middle of it.

Yeah, that poor thing was a bundle of nerves! One of the first time I noticed it, I thought she was crying or trying not to cry, I realized she was just that nervous that her voice was quivery. She's gotten much better!

You nailed it.  It's terrible. I'm convinced Frangie has has some incriminating pics of 1010xl management.  Khan was a genius to make him the voice of the Jags.  Nobody in their right mind would stay home and listen to him calling the game.

It's not good, at all. The Blythe girl is the only one I would classify as even somewhat knowledgeable about sports. The show is pretty cringe worthy most of the time.

I'll tell you who I like to listen to call games, Richard Miller "Miller on Sports". He calls UNF games. He's young, and maybe not ready, I'm not someone who could make that call. But the guy is passionate about sports, extremely knowledgeable of the game/s, and of the teams playing. You can tell he studies up. A lot of fun to listen to.

The new afternoon format is a mess. Not sure why Ackerman was brought in, as he adds NOTHING to the broadcast, other than incessant Gator talk. Martineau is "just there", and Frangie.. well Frangie is Frangie, as painfully outlined here in numerous posts. I wish he was just fallback into the background, and stick to the business side of things. I really can't stand listening to him. That slot should be Ballou's. He and Dempsey are probably most polished personalities they have, and should be featured as such.

 

This move creates an unnecessary bottleneck in the afternoon slot, with FOUR personalities vying for airtime. I actually enjoy T-Wigg, Hacker, and Cowart. Adding another voice to this trio, just does not work for me, and it's not fair to them or Ballou.

 

I don't mind Prosser, as long as Dan is there to balance him out. When Dan isn't there, I don't listen.
