Game of thrones (spoilers obviously)

Was it just me or did Jamie and Cerseii just set up the Tyrell's against the High Sparrow?  With so much happening in the north and with Daenerys it was easy to miss but if the Tyrell's do attack when Margaery is sentenced to take her walk of shame things could get really interesting.

Yeah but Baylon and Yara are/were the only ones that knew that. Plus at Baylons funeral when Yara mentioned taking over the other dude in the ocean made a big deal about that NOT being the law and that they had to have a Kingsmoot.

So something is not making sense to me here. If that's the case, why was Theon ever important at all?

There's more to it than that. I just had to look it up but it seems to break tradition/be in bad form for a kingsmoot to be held without a living male heir present (if available). By past precedent, Theon could declare any kingsmoot in which he did not take an active role "unlawful" should he fully reclaim his name.

So for years when they've referred to him as the only heir to the Iron Islands, that was false?

Because he can't just inherit the throne like all the other kingdoms?

Awww...there's no guarantee that's what's going to happen obviously. It could though..we don't get to see much in the way of redemption in Westeros. Jaime sort of went through it, as did the Hound but neither were complete. Maybe Theon will be the first?

The Kingsmoot was declared because Theon was thought to be dead.  Also let's not forget his father (Euron?) disowned him because he was taken by Ned Stark and raised in the North.  He viewed him as not a true Iron Born.

Balon*.  Euron was the one that pushed Balon off the bridge.

The kingsmoot is actually not at all typical, and there hasn't been one for hundreds of years prior to this one.  The show kind of skipped forward past a lot of largely (definitely for a show) boring stuff, but here's the jist.

After Balon's death, Euron showed up to declare himself king, while Yara contested she should be queen.  Theon was still imprisoned at the time, and in the books has actually still not returned to Pyke.  Aeron (Euron and Balon's brother, also the old guy that Yara was talking to when they sent Balon out to sea) really doesn't want either to be king/queen, since Euron is a godless man and Yara is a woman, so he declares a Kingsmoot in order to determine who is king.  IIRC, he basically drowned himself to let the sea god give him direction on how they should determine the new king, it was a lot of sitting around by the sea.

It'll be interesting to see if the show changes direction since Theon is back, and if Victarion shows up.

I really can't wait to see what actually happens to Theon in the books. I always hoped he would have a chance to redeem himself truly(saving Jeyne Poole isn't really that big of a deal considering all else he did). Though, the chances are definitely in favor of him being executed by Stannis, which is probably the best bet for his story arc, executed in front of a weirwood as Bran looks on and possibly further strengthens Bran as a greenseer.

That's right Balon, thanks for the correction.  Also I don't recall anyone actually pushing him off the bridge in the books.  It was speculated that he may have been pushed though right?  I may have to reread them again it has been so long.

Correct. I believe Yara and Aeron both openly suspect Euron, but there is no definitive answer. There was a theory I remember reading a little bit on that it was a faceless man who pushed him.

So normally the crown would be passed down to Theon and the Kingsmoot is because of all the special circumstances?

Cool, thanks for the info. The show didn't do a very good job of explaining the situation.

I'm calling the Season 6 end-of-season cliffhanger now. While we are being led to believe the cliff hanger will involve white walkers, I think the final scene of the season will be Daenarys or Jon meeting a character new to the show.

Daenarys: "Who are you and why should I note have my dragons burn you?"

Mysterious man: "My name..... is Aegon Targaryen- the first son of Rhaegar an true heir the iron throne."

*roll credits*

You heard it here first, folks.

That is what I said, too.

So who rides the 2nd then? Jon or Tyrion?     My bet is on Tyrion.

Anyone have any thoughts to either Jon or Daenrys going dark side on us?
