was pretty interesting episode, Idk how I feel about time travel added to the show, but if it is a closed loop system there would be no changing past events. Everything is fated to occur no matter what. Makes you wonder if the mad king was hearing things from Bran or the 3 eyed raven and misinterpreting them. Hodor was broken due to knowing his purpose and end long before it ever happened.
another interesting couple of thoughts. in the books Old Nan always tells Bran one of his favorite stories about Bran the building but Bran doesn't like that story. Then Bran reflects on how Old Nan has lived so long she has seen many Brans and sometimes seems to confuse them. Tinfoil hat me wonders if all the Brans are just one entity. Summer dying might be the most symbolic representation of Winter is Coming possible I really want Tormound to seduce the maiden fair One of the best episodes of the whole series in my opinion.
Go Jags!

Watching last night's episode right now and I have to say so far Tormund and Brienne's 2 second scene together was the best part of the show. Him having googly eyes at her and her reaction was priceless.

Saw some speculation that seemed interesting. That bran in one of his visions of the past is the driving force behind the mad king going crazy. Jamie tells Robert that before he killed him the mad king kept repeating "burn them all" over and over.
Watching Hodor die was one of the more heartbreaking parts of this entire series so far. Sansa lying to Jon is going to get them all killed. She won't rest until she's gotten all the Stark's killed.

Him having googly eyes at her and her reaction was priceless. It's awesome how entire thoughts can be portrayed with just looks and gestures. Both of them have their respective characters down to the letter in terms of action and subtext. I can't help but wonder though what the true basis for this reaction is. In the books Brienne is described as being thoroughly unattractive in addition to being...manly. This actress is by no means ugly, she's just a big woman (BONUS!). So I wonder if her looks are rooted in disdain for Tormund being a "filthy wildling" or more her being awkward because the character has been traditionally spurned by men (Renly aside...but he doesn't count because he like dudes)?

I agree about Sansa. She was foolish to turn away Littlefinger. And then to hide that from Jon is even more foolish. This now sets the table for Littlefinger to tip the scale of the impending battle for Winterfell. I am interested now though to see how Bran and Meera get out of this mess with the Wights still after them. The preview was kind of odd but if you look closely I think you can speculate a bit. Meera tells Bran she's sorry and it seems Bran is still dealing with the visions and knowledge the Three Eyed Raven has gifted him. So he's pretty much out of it at the moment. I wonder if Meera is going to abandon him for her own safety or sake. BUT, I say that, and when you look at the preview and focus on her it seems like the Wights are running right past them and she's actually looking at them puzzled as to why that may be. There is still an off chance that maybe Benjen Stark makes an apperance finally? OR, my personal favorite, Cold Hands. It would be beyond cool to see Cold Hands rally to Bran and Meera with his "Crow" like attacks on the Wights to save him. Maybe they needed to honestly kill off yet another direwolf just to make way for a character that will need some CGI effects to him. In the books he helps guide them to the Three Eyed Crow. I could see the show writers maybe flipping this around a bit to help them escape with Hodor now being out of the picture sadly.
I also agree with the Mad King theory now after last night's episode. Bran may have triggered everything with his abilities. From Hodor's episode to Aerys' issues and the ultimate driving force behind Robert's Rebellion. They already hinted that he could somehow end up impacting young Ned here shortly in the episodes to come if he goes back to visit the Tower of Joy. That's not finished yet. They still have to reveal what's going on up there I think. Would be odd to have an epic battle scene and then not finish the primary cause of said epic battle scene. It's driving me up a wall though. The show and book series is nearing it's end. I believe they're looking at roughly thirteen episodes after season six is finished. So they are just pulling out all the stops now as far as how the story should end. Last night to me was by far the best overall episode they've ever had personally. They continue to top each episode. Jon's revival. Tower of Joy flashback. Daenery's once again showing she's unburnt. And now last night's reveal. I am going to go on ahead and predict in the next episode or two. The King's Landing stand-off will be held in check for awhile. I think Cersei demands Trial by Combat in favor of The Undead Mountain. And I think The Hound makes his return. He'll have his long overdue vengeance upon his brother's doing towards him. I could see it ending in a double K.O though. The Clegane bowl will be just the teaser or sampler before the Snow bowl. So I say you have a draw there. After the chaos ensues the Lannisters and Tyrells will still force the fanatics and the High Sparrow out of King's Landing or they'll be slaughtered. I think Tommen gets killed in this chaos as well. He's too weak to rule. Cersei wants it for herself. Euron Greyjoy won't make it to Daenerys Targaryen. That's my other prediction. I think Theon and his sister will ambush him and sink or flatout take his ship from him and kill him. They will then throw their own lot in with Daenerys themselves. We'll see. It's fun to speculate. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."

I can't help but wonder though what the true basis for this reaction is.A little bit of both of these I'm sure. I'm not a big girl like Gwendoline Christie but I'm tall and awkward and have had my share of nasty things said to me about my looks by males and females since grade school so I can identify with her awkwardness around men. And Tormund is not put off by her size at all so it's weird for her. The fact that he's a wildling and 'uncivilized' makes it even worse.

I want Cleganebowl as much as I want Snowbowl. I agree though this season is killing it. My only complaint is they seem sooooo short because so much is happening.
A good explanation of the undoing of Hodor. Poor Hodor. I think that is the saddest death I've ever seen on TV or in movies.
"Bran warged into Hodor in the present so Hodor could carry him to safety, but interestingly enough Bran was still in the past (having the vision). He then heard his friend's screaming "Wake up! Warg into Hodor" while still in the past. The 3 Eyed Raven says "you better listen to your friends." So, Bran listens, looks at young Hodor (While still in the past) & Wargs into him. This causes the past Hodor & future Hodor to become linked & what happens to future Hodor happens to past Hodor. Mereen is screaming "Hold the door!" to present Hodor & past Hodor begins to repeat it while getting ripped to shreds by Whites. All this is happening to past Hodor mentally causing permanent brain damage." We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:I think it's been hinted that Benjen is cold hands hasn't it? In the books GRRM confirmed that Benjen is not coldhands. The show, it's definitely a possibility. A lot easier for a show to bring back an old character than to have to introduce yet another.

"Burn them all" meant to be a message from Bran about the dead bodies, but misinterpreted by the mad king?

Quote:Jaime. As I recall, while Jaime didn't mock or alienate her, I don't think there was any overt physical attraction either. Jaime is a pragmatist as long as it doesn't involve Cercei. It's widely known Brienne is a beast in combat and she happened to be his "escort" from point A to point B. Ticking her off by insulting her, even if he were so inclined, would have served him absolutely no good considering he was down a hand at the time. I'm of the mindset that Jaime respects Brienne for who she is in totality and while she's a very stiff woman in the figurative sense, she's one of the few "points of light" left in Westeros. Regarding your later point about Hodor's death. I definitely put it in my top 5 saddest on-screen moments. That was some Old Yeller (seeing it for the first time) type stuff. My best friend's wife literally started crying. Between Summer (she LOVES animals) and Hodor, she lost it.

At the royal wedding Cersei confronts Brienne and accuses her of being in love with Jaime. Brienne nearly craps her pants in response. To me it sure seemed to imply she has some feelings for him.
The Mad King was mad because of incest. The Targ's bred amongst themselves for almost their entire time in Westeros in order to preserve the "blood of the dragon."
If I recall from the books, Targaryan's have a history of mental health in their family because of the inbreeding.
Anyone think that Ramsey will best Jon in the Bastard Bowl? I just can't see HBO giving us that satisfying of a resolution.
