Wait... who's negative about Bortles?
I don't recall seeing much from national media types in the last 6 months or so that wasn't basically "Jacksonville is the next big thing!"... Even the All Important June 1st edition of the potential Fantasy Football rankings had Bortles as the #9 QB. That's not hate. I don't think I've heard NFL Network say much of anything negative about him (or really the team in general) other than he needs to bring down his INTs and the team needs to win more... which is just calling a spade a spade. I'm not local to Jacksonville so I can't speak to what's said on the radio down there, but from up here, the general consensus is that Bortles is an awesome QB and that Jacksonville is going to be a force to reckon with.

No. The real 2 reasons are
1) The Jags defense was 30th in PPG allowed (thanks Gus), translating to losses 2) Jacksonville is a small market Only WINS will translate into more media coverage. Bortles was 2nd in NFL in TD passes with arguably the worst defense, worst head coach, and worst O line in the NFL. Improve those areas and this team will get ALL of the media coverage. |
