Talks between Broncos and Miller "could get ugly"

#41

Something's gotta give soon. The salary cap is going to have to increase substantially if teams expect to keep players like this around AND franchise QB's.

The salary cap is not going to go up because players are demanding more money.  At some point, the teams have to practice some fiscal sanity. Miller has little leverage and if the Broncos are smart they will realize it.

They should stick to this offer and refuse to negotiate.

Is Miller going to sit out the season? Absolutely not.

If he decides he wants to eventually go to Free Agency, be prepared for the possibility of the Franchise tag.

Or... take the 114 million with 38 million guaranteed.

Saints are being awfully stupid with Drew Brees also.

I'm in the minority but I hope the days of Jags going big in FA are over for at least the next 3-4 years. If you're doing that, it's usually not a good sign. Re-signing your own studs that you drafted is more important which is what I hope we do and even then, selectively.

I want the Jags' salary cap to remain healthy and signing huge contracts to guys like Von Miller don't help you do that. He (like all other free agents) are a play away from ruining your cap. Imagine you're a GM and the guy you signed to a $20 million/year, $60 million guaranteed contract tears an ACL. Try explaining that to your boss.

Quote:It's that time of year, but I am always amazed at the greed of these guys.  They still play a game.  They did not help the league get to the cash cow it is now why should they take so much of the profits.  These guys nor their fathers were even born yet.  I wish I could hold my company for ransom with the rest of the employees demanding profit sharing.

Yea right.

They should feel blessed with the god given ability to be lucky enough to play in the NFL.

Stop acting like spoiled children.  It's like a he said she said.  Hell these guys make more for playing one bleeping game of football than I will in my lifetime probably.

Remember that ......one bleeping game.  It is ridiculous.

Steps off soapbox so the ......well you know crowd can chime in.
You get paid what you are worth. So because Von Miller/his agent understands economics, even just in his own personal situation, he is a greedy little punk? No. Other teams would pay him more than his Denver asking price if he were a free agent... This league is about passers, protecting passers, and pass rushers/defenders. Very few people in the world can do what any of the position groups can at an elite level. That is why they get paid so much, that and the revenue the NFL generates allows it. So good for him, and any other player who gets paid. I love whats left of the free market, you should too.

I have no problem with players trying to squeeze every penny they possibly can out of a team.

That God given talent won't be around forever. Faulting a guy for trying to take advantage of it is asinine

As a famous revolutionist once said "if youre good at something, never do it for free."

And to the Broncos

Going under the presumption that Von Miller won't play for the Broncos in 2016...will the Broncos look to trade him or let him walk like Norman? If so, do the Jags have the cap space for Von Miller?
