Predicting Yeldon will have a breakout season
|
Quote:Gerhart never did anything that made me ever think that he was on the verge of a breakout season You're missing the point. Ivory is getting paid. You don't give out that kind of money to a RB and have the other prominent RB on the team get enough touches to have a breakout season. We show less advertisements to registered users. Whomever is running the rock better will probably be the one getting most of the carries. Also it's not like they broke the bank on him.

With our passing offense and hopefully an improved offensive line, Yeldon should have a good year. He showed some great flashes last year. He and Ivory should be a good tandem.

Jags had the money to spend. Means nothing. The hot hand will get the most touches. Quote:Jags had the money to spend. Means nothing. I think it'll be tough for Yeldon to reach his true potential while splitting carries with Ivory

He got paid to be the closer, convert important 3rd downs, and score TDS in the red zone. As long as he's healthy, he will do just that.

The fact that Ivory got paid is meaningless. You can make that same argument for Yeldon by stating you don't use a 2nd rd pick on a RB and have the other prominent RB on the team get enough touches to have a breakout season.
Whomever performs better will get the touches. Quote:You're missing the point. Ivory is getting paid. Cincinnati has a great situation at RB. I hope ours ends up being just as good or better. Fred/MJD... in college - there are tons of examples, VT had Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs. Production from the stable will yield success for the team.

I'm just happy knowing at least one of them should be operating at or near a pro bowl level. Ivory was already a pro bowler and Yeldon showed flashes that he could develop into a Leveon Bell - esque type of RB potentially. One of them will ball out at the minimum.
I think they will complement each other well. More receiving yards for yeldon, more tds for ivory. More wins for Jags.
Per Rotoworld:
Quote:The Florida Times Union expects the Jaguars to start Chris Ivory over T.J. Yeldon.

Quote:Per Rotoworld: If there's one thing I'm certain of, it's that Ryan O'Halloran flings more poo at the wall than any beat writer I've ever read. Yeldon did enough last year to earn plenty of touches - and he and Ivory will both benefit from a committee approach. Who "starts" won't mean much IMO. The RB position will be interesting in camp. It's just OTAs, but Jonas Grey looks legit as well. What I noticed so far this offseason, was the power Ivory ran with and the quick twitch ability of Yeldon. Grey had a little of both. Regardless of money spent, I could see Ivory actually spelling Yeldon. What we'll most likely see is whomever has the hot hand (hot feet) will be taking a majority of carries. Either way, it's a good problem to have.

Oderick is getting paid... Skuta getting paid.. And they might not start.. Contracts dont reflect playing time when your team is 60 plus under the cap. I had a thought on Yeldon and on AR15 too. I keep seeing people saying that their stats will go down this year because of ivory and a more well rounded offense.
But my thought was that if our defense is improved like it should be, they should cause more turnovers and more defensive stops. Hence putting the ball back into our powerful offense hands. We should in theory gain more stats and more points.
After being injured the past few years, I'd just like to see Yeldon stay injury free. I think having Ivory split the carries will go a long way to keeping him fresh on limited touches (~ 10 per game).
No breakout year ---- just give me a consistent 4 yards per carry, a few receptions and 3rd down conversions per game, and stay healthy. Quote:Jonas will not make the team. How many backs do they keep? I like Grey and could see him in the 53 if they go 4. He is decisive, deceptively powerful with apt speed. Corey Grant or D Rob, whom I had hopes for, could be axed in his stead, in my view. *Ducks before beep beep speed lovers surface*
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
