Justin Blackmon. On the field, he flashed. Unfortunately, he was flashing bowls off the field.

Derek Cox seemed to start out okay(INT of Manning in his first game), but his development bottomed out . That was disappointing. Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves. Gross.

When we drafted Harvey and Groves, it's not so much that I had faith in either player, but I really believed one of them would be good enough as a rookie to get the Jags deeper in the playoffs for 2008. Same thing with Jerry Porter.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Shoot the guy was a 3rd round pick. He had to be the next Ray Guy.

Overall I'll go with Hugh Douglas, but among their more recent players I'll go with Cyprien. Cyprien was considered the top SS in his draft class and the 2nd best S overall. I truly thought he'd be a beast, but instead it turns out he's just a guy.

I just like the thread's title, hope. Concise and telling

Too many to list. Hence the decade long demise. But a change has come.

That said, Matt freaking Jones. Hogs sold him to pieces, made us leery of his one handed half speed behind. Look up 'freak athlete', his image pops up, in their heads. Too bad athletic and Matt Jones = cheese and chalk, polar opposites ; )

I'll go with Gabbert just because of the damage that he did to the franchise.

I've never seen a QB impacted so much by the physicality of the game.  He was so afraid to get hit that it impacted every single passing play that he was involved in.

Out of curiosity when did you give up on  " Your Guy "? When did you know that he just wasnt going to cut it or be any better than he already was?

RJ Soward, though he was the explosive receiver to ot us over the top with Jimmy and Keenan.

By year 2 I knew Harvey wasn't good. Gabbert was crap right away.

By the way we got JJ Stokes in 03, I think. I don't feel like looking it up either. His best year he never had 800 yards receiving.

I think the jury is still out on Cyp. Supposedly he plays better as an "in the box" safety and he hasn't had the opportunity to do so until now. Not to mention his contract is up after this year. If he flames out after being put in the best position to maximize his potential I'll hop on the bandwagon with you.

Quote:I thought Aaron Kampman was going to be the start of our franchise turning around.
I didn't have super high hopes for him, but I thought it was a solid acquisition that would give us 3 years of pass rush efficiency.

I'm not sure he saw 2 games as a Jag.  Medium expectations, zero results.  At least Britton, Groves, and Harvey got to play some.  And Gabbert?  Well, he's still playing.

Kampman had a solid first half season in Jax. I think he had 4 sacks in 8 games then went down again.

Quote:Justin Durant.
Durant was good, he was oft injured though.

The biggest disappointment has to be....Gabbert.

It was night and day between him and Garrard. I know it was time for Garrard to go but we should have just found a QB in free agency that year for just a stop gap atleast.

I believe if garrard didn't have the back injury, gabbert would not have been thrust into action.

Leftwich was my choice. And I notice the failure when a 4th round backup qb in garrard had the team rallying behind him in Leftwich's 2nd season because Leftwich just couldn't stay healthy.

Derrick Harvey, Justin Blackmon, Blaine Gabbert,

My daughter was tutoring at UF and expressed deep concern about Harvey, said the general term use was DAABOR.
