We get a new "jumping out the window" .gif as well. Can't have too many of those, especially around here.

I think I liked this episode more than last week's episode, that intro was chilling, very well done imo, set me in the mood for the rest of the show.
Quote:Loved it, I'm glad they didn't kill Melisandre, so I'm sure we'll be blessed with at least one more nude scene. Hopefully another one where her necklace is off.
Quote:Yeah, where the hell is ghost? I believe I read that they didn't not have enough in the budget for Ghost so I guess we just got to assume he's around somewhere.
Wow, so much stuff happened. Dorne and High Garden are officially joining forces with Daenerys. Love that Arya finally got to meet Walder Frey. I wonder if Jamie will become known as Queen Slayer as well, in regards to Cersei.

What a great show. I have a friend who hasn't watched it before and is binge watching it. I am so envious of him. That is how I felt when I got to binge watch 24.
Olenna Tyrell steals every episode she's in. Her scene with Ellaria and the Sand Snakes was, by far, my favorite followed closely by Sam and Gilly finally arriving at the Citadel (odd choice, I know...but I like Sam). "Let the grown women speak!" Absolutely flawless! We must have Lady Mormont and the Queen of Thorns in a scene together! A Varys sighting made he happy as well...even if that isn't necessarily where I expected him to turn up.
One relatively minor quibble I had with this episode was the wildfire bomb. By the lore, that stuff is literally impossible to put out once it starts burning so how did King's Landing not burn to the ground? Cersei is as good as dead, though, once Jaime finds out what she's engineered. Many of us already suspected Jon was Rhaegar's son but the way that was explained was excellent. I'm slightly disappointed they didn't clarify the nature of Lyanna's and Rhaegar's relations (meaning, was it "forced" or was it consensual). Now it just remains to be seen how Jon will learn of his ancestry and how, if at all, will it change his character. I don't know how I feel about Arya's scene, honestly. It's always good when a piece of filth gets what he deserves and Walder Frey definitely deserved what he got...I dunno, to me it was just a bit too much a bit too soon but I'm admittedly skeptical about Arya's anime cliche character in general.

Agreed about Olenna Tyrell.
I wish there were more with Bran. I really am intrigued about his role. That being said. Great episode. Another win for GoT.

I thought they somewhat confirmed the R+L=J theory last week, during Davos' and Tormund's conversation about serving kings, and Davos made a comment that at least Jon Snow is "no king"
Quote:I'm putting my money on Howlen Reed being the one to tell Jon since he should know as well. I don't remember ever having seen Howlen Reed outside of flashbacks but that's probably the only reasonable explanation unless Bran makes it back to Winterfell also and holds council with his relatives. He seemed to comprehend the implications of his spirit journey into the past and who Jon is. Oh and I'm pretty sure that Varys is (or was) indeed a Faceless Man now.

My bold prediction...
...the Blackfish isn't dead. Ok, maybe not so bold.

The wall wasn't built to protect the realm from the white walkers, it was built to protect the white walkers from Lady Mormont.

I wonder if Jamie will become known as Queen Slayer as well, in regards to Cersei. Jamie is the Queens layer, not the queen slayer. And tommen took kings landing a little bit too literally.

People are saying If you really crank up the audio while she's whispering it sounds like Lyanna says "Robert will kill him." and "his name is Jon". Why do you think Varys is/was a Faceless man? I don't see anything indicating he is nor that the Faceless men are anything more than hired assassins with a devotion to their religion.

People are saying If you really crank up the audio while she's whispering it sounds like Lyanna says "Robert will kill him." and "his name is Jon". One thought I just had that has absolutely no basis whatsoever...I wonder if Maester Aemon suspected somehow who Jon really was in retrospect? I can't quite put my finger on it and there's no basis for this, mind you. Much like with Varys...there's no actual justification for it. However, in the books Varys has what is made out to be an almost supernatural skill in disguise although my comment was more a poke at all the comments I see made around the interwebs about how quickly he gets around Westeros (i.e. teleportation device). Never mind that there are almost always subtle time skips in play even in last night's episode. If you look closely during the final sequence, there are ships from both Dorne and Highgarden amdist Dany's already considerable armada (which would indicate a time skip of a couple of months thinking realistically). It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Varys had a childhood after his incident that mirrored Arya's even if Varys isn't a killer necessarily. Speaking of which, who wants to bet dollars to donuts Varys ends up killing Qyburn? I don't think the real Master of Whispers will take to kindly to what Qyburn the Imposter has corrupted his little birds into becoming. Edit: I also wonder, based on what you said about Lyanna, if indeed her relationship with Rhaegar may have been consensual. What little I know of Rhaegar doesn't seem to substantiate him being a rapist...which is apparently somewhat corroborated by Ned's and Barristan's opinion of him (which I just had to look up to confirm).

There is obviously time skips occuring. I think Varys basically said he had a rough childhood so you are not far off there. Agree on Rhaegar/Lyanna. To many people held him in high regard. It never fit well.
Quote:I watched twice and didn't notice the Dronish/Tyrell ships. Nice catch! What got me was the different sail shapes. For example, all of the ships from Highgarden (aside from being the customary green with the yellow rose) are triangular. The Dornish sails are orange and Dany's are black. I didn't notice until watching the episode a second time mind you...but the green triangular sails are what made me pay more attention to that particular detail.
