Big Win for Women, Bad Day for Texas
|
Quote:None of those are stances taken by the pro-birthers and because of that it's hard to take the pro-birth stance as anything other than wanting to control women or punish them for having sex. Oh [BLEEP]. I've supported and worked in several social service organizations that do exactly that. That you so easily and readily discount the works of thousands and thousands of people demonstrates a lack of awareness and education on your part. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:In your opinion they've moved in the wrong direction. I don't think they have. I know women who had to make that decision, and I for one won't shame them for having made it. Yes, in my opinion. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

The GOP doesn't support it and that's all that matters in the political arena. The politicians you and other pro-birthers support and vote into office don't support it. SO you can be self righteous and present yourself as "one of the good ones" all you want (which I wager is an incredibly small portion of the conservative base) because it doesn't matter one lick when you guys keep voting in people who don't agree with you.

Quote:So you guys decide to but actually discuss the ruling, but go straight to your tired old talking points.Calm down? Nobody is flying off the handle here. Texas was trying to make the procedures safer, but what the heck. Let's just go back to the good old days of back alley abortions as long as they're legal and available. You would no doubt wholeheartedly support that because anything else would be considered restricting access. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:you and the government of Texas don't have the right or power to tell anyone what is or is not morally reprehensible. ^^ I agree with this as a broad philosophy. However, it should be the driving idea attached to most issues. It's no good to say "they don't have the right or power to decide what is/isn't morally reprehensible" for this issue,, but "they do have the right or power to decide what is/isn't morally reprehensible" for another issue, like what people can do with their private businesses. It can't go both ways. I'm not saying the poster is doing that btw. Just an observation of the way many people believe. P.s. - I'm mixed on abortion. I personally find it terrible and wouldn't do it. However, someone very close to me had it many years ago. No matter how terrible I think abortion is,, it was necessary for that person, and the correct thing to do (without sharing any of the details of that situation; trust me, it was a dreadful sitaution which was not caused by fault of the person). I guess my stance would be: Against abortion except in extreme cases such as rape, incest, medical necessity of the woman.
The Government sure as hell can tell you what you can do with your body......
Drug Laws anyone........ If a woman can have an abortion I should be able to smoke a joint without fear of being jailed ![]()
Quote:The Government sure as hell can tell you what you can do with your body...... I have no problem with legalizing marijuana. Or other drugs for that matter. I also think non-violent drug offenders should be released from prison. Like... yesterday.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Who is the government to tell me killing babies while on LSD is wrong?
This dang oppression is killing me. LET ME KILL A BABY PLEEEAAASSE! Get ur bible outta here and let me go on a killing spree. Dont try to tell me what's right! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Again, your ignorance. We believe in individual contributions not government mandated ones. Charity isn't charity when it's rendered at the point of a gun. It's not ignorance just because you disagree with what I said or do not want to accept it. Everything I said is true. The right does not advocate sex ed nor availability of contraceptives. Things that will actually lower abortion rates. When you want to actively deny aid to poor families you are showing you don't care about the child but only about the birth. In one breath you will vilify women for seeking abortions and in the next breath vilify the women who didn't have one and can't afford to raise their children as being moochers. Sex ed - The right advocates that it belongs in the home. Contraceptives - condoms cost a freaking quarter at most Aid to poor families - We already give away billions from the government in addition to the billions more given voluntarily. So, since people can't be responsible we should instead allow them to commit murder. Let's just make all the rest of crime legal too, it's no different. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

There were some people who disliked fisting being taught to their 1st graders, THEREFORE, you cant try an tell me abortion is wrong. Buncha nazis.
Quote:Very big win for women. Obviously anti-choicers won't see it that way, but body autonomy is a very important thing. In fact we give bodily autonomy to dead people. You can't take someone's organs even after they don't need them any more. Even if it's to save someone eles's life. What u just said disproves roe.

Well said. Just because a significantly tiny minority of republicans may think social programs are necessary, doesn't change the fact that the policy position of the entire party is for cutting those programs at every and all opportunity.
You're right. Increasing funding by 3% instead of 6% makes you a jerk.
Killing 26 million women makes you a feminist. Making sure women's health providers are professional makes you a masoginist. And leaving a US ambassador, begging for his life, to die makes you look presidential. We are through the looking glass people. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Sex ed - The right advocates that it belongs in the home. You sound like you're very new to this particular topic... Studies have found that sex ed and giving away contraceptives lowers unwanted pregnancies, AND abortions. If you really don't like abortions, that's how you solve the problem, not by making it go back behind the alleys of skid row. The world has changed, adapt to it...

Quote:You're right. Increasing funding by 3% instead of 6% makes you a jerk. I miss the thought out arguments with supporting facts that the old jj used to write... What you just wrote doesn't appear to have anything to do with anything about this topic. Would you care to elaborate and explain, please? |
