Dan Skuta arrested
|
The main potential issue here is the question of who plays Skuta's position should he miss time.
If his lawyer's statement has any truth, then I don't expect this to even be an issue but it could come down to whether the team wants Myles Jack to have a chance to play outside of his intended position or if they'll just plug in one of Armbrister/Pullard/Porter/Tripp. Remember when they want pass rush from the position they'll have Ryan Davis as an option and likely Tyrone Holmes as well. I kinda' think Skuta's lawyer gets this thrown out and it becomes a non-issue. All this "Skuta sucks anyway" talk is pretty stupid IMO. He's a solid OLB in this scheme. Nothing spectacular, but it's clear they value his experience over just plugging in a promising rookie out of position. I'd not be so quick to write him off. Yep... if he truly were a bubble player they would have cut bait already and have been done with it.

1.5 sacks, a liabilty in the run game, and 2.5 tackles a game... WE CANT GO ON WITHOUT HIM!
Quote:1.5 sacks, a liabilty in the run game, and 2.5 tackles a game... WE CANT GO ON WITHOUT HIM! He was not used as a rusher primarily and missed half the year with injury. He is a rotational player who filled in well. He's not supposed to be Clay Matthews or Keuchley. As much as you want to dump on him, he still has plenty of upside. He also didn't miss too many tackles. Given the improvement up front I would expect better output from him this year.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Quote:1.5 sacks, a liabilty in the run game, and 2.5 tackles a game... WE CANT GO ON WITHOUT HIM! Exactly. We can make it without him. Not gonna muss 2.5 tackles per game. the same people who defended this free agent signing cant let it go. they still think Skuta is good... after an entire season of sub-par play

I think the jury is still out on skuta to a degree. Strong side linebackers in this scheme aren't going to rack up statistically. I looked up k.j. wright who moved to weak side his third year and his stats began to look a little different on the tackles front. The sack total was pretty much on par. As far as the run game, I think his duty is more so to turn the play back inside. My 2 cents.

Time to right a wrong. But I guess alot of you peeps think he's good. Only God knows why. The team could bring in... idk, ANYONE as an undrafted rookie and there's a 50/50 shot that they would actually be a better player. Skuta is not good. |
