Perhaps you should also look at the stats you listed again since you extrapolated them to a 16 game season when he missed time due to his groin injury. 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in his first seven games before he went down. Only had four tackles in a seven week stretch right after that while also missing three games due to his groin.

 

He's not a world beater, but he's a solid player especially against the run.

It's not JUST about stats. You can just watch the games and see that he is not an impact player.

 

But on top of that, he has no production worthy to bring up... cause he stinks.

He's overpaid and the signing was a mistake to begin with. Time to right a wrong. But I guess alot of you peeps think he's good. Only God knows why.


The team could bring in... idk, ANYONE as an undrafted rookie and there's a 50/50 shot that they would actually be a better player. Skuta is not good.

We have a ton of cap space and he is at very worst very good depth to have.

id bring in a cheaper FA option on top of developing younger players with real potential and not a proven track record of sub-par play

 

like i said, he's just a guy. ive said it all along. but people are desperate to justify the money spent on him like it was a good decision. he brought nothing to the table.  you dont pay a guy 20 million to bring next to nothing. cause thats what he brought. basically nothing. this isnt charity.

 

and now you got people sweating about this incident like it would hurt the team if he was let go. it would hurt the team exactly 0 if not improve things.

That might well be what happens next year but for this year there is no reason to cut a proven guy like Skuta.He is a solid player and great depth at worst.Nobody's saying he a world beater.

I don't think many people disagree that he's just a solid player, but that's quite a bit different from saying he sucks and there's a 50/50 chance an undrafted rookie would be better than him. Also Skuta makes $3.6 million this season.

You can't bring in a cheaper FA and you don't pay his salary. Saying cutting him would improve things really does make sense that he didn't autograph your Fat Boy wall poster at one time.

Every defense is going to have solid role players. He doesn't need to stick out to be effective. We've had subpar play at lb before, so cutting him and replacing him with an undrafted player is only going to exacerbate the situation. Of course you know this, but you were trying to make a point. The problem is that it's a weak point. Maybe they do cut him later,so what? No one in this thread thinks he's a world beater. He's been an outside backer before but he hasn't played a role like this one before. Should he be instantly good just because you think his contact warrants it (question not a statement)? Careful, the jags at some point will be good again and that might make you not want to come to the board anymore...
