Because you can have a gun and still decide for yourself if you want to play "find the sniper" in an open city street. Not everyone who carries thinks they are a hero.

Generally we don't act if/once the cops are involved unless they directly ask us to. Since the cops were there at the beginning there was no incentive to start shooting.

Exactly,  The concealed carrier is not meant to be a deputized law officer except in the most extreme cases, and in those cases there's usually no time for a formality.  There have been cases where a concealed carrier intervened when a law officer was being attacked, often saving the officer's life.  There was the case of the UT sniper shooting from a tower where an off-duty cop, a civilian and a University custodian were the ones who brought he shooter down. 

 

But generally the concealed carrier should seek to get himself to safety like any civilian.

BLM is nothing more than an agitating force looking for a fuse to light.  Sorry, but when peaceful protests like the rally in Phoenix where <a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.theamericanmirror.com/agitators-hurl-rocks-phoenix-police-chant-shoot/'>protestors threw rocks at police and said they should shoot them</a>, they're doing themselves no favors. 

 

What will eventually happen here is that police, out of fear for being ambushed, or just because they don't want to be accused of doing something untoward, won't respond to calls in a timely manner.  They'll basically just put their hands up and say they've had enough.  They'll suddenly become afflicted with the blue flu, and they won't come in.  It's already happening in liberal utopias like Chicago where thugs run a large portion of the city, and police barely dare to enter these no go zones to do any sort of law enforcement. 

 

 

Despite the animosity directed at cops at rallies around the country, these folks are still out there trying to keep the peace and protect people from things like we saw in Dallas.  Meanwhile, they're being shouted at, spat upon, threatened, and in some cases attacked.  There are multiple reports from around the country since Dallas of police being attacked by someone who used the shootings in LA and MN as their justification. 

 

I don't know how those in law enforcement can continue to do their jobs when you've got people like some in this very discussion who are constantly calling them pigs, or worse.  They're dealing with people who would just as soon shoot them as get another mark on their record.  While there are bad apples among law enforcement, 99.99% of police are good people doing a difficult job.  They don't deserve the kind of vitriol we're seeing right now.  As a friend of mine who is a cop here in Jacksonville told me, after doing the job for 25 years, the time has come to retire because of how things have changed.  Even routine traffic stops have become high risk because they just don't know what they're likely to face when they walk up to that car.  That wasn't always the case.  So, this cop, a good cop, btw, is retiring because it's just gotten too dangerous to do the job safely.

Excellent post. The last few days I've been biting my tongue and intentionally not posting. I know I would probably get a warning for saying what I truly thought of the situation as well as some of the replies. I have been thinking of a long drawn out post that touched much of what you said. I too know law enforcement officers one of which just retired after 30 years. I would love to see him reply to some of these posters. I have a feeling if he did a few of them would feel pretty damn small afterwards and have nothing to say.

The guy was targeting cops, specially white cops. That's not spin, that's reality. LOL, sorry, that's how I see it. I'm in the minority on this message board, but that's my perception.


At the end of the day, if you want to say that this PTSD vet was racially motivated, fine. But let's face facts here, the overall protests are peaceful, and this killer's actions does not mean there is a race war that is beginning. The protests are not about whites versus blacks, it's about police brutality.

Earlier you were saying just cops in general, now you're saying specifically white cops. You've evolved.


This is obviously about more than cops. Too often someone takes a side on something and they are perceived as being racist. You can vote for Trump, support cops, and believe that things need to change without being racist. The left has done an amazing job convincing themselves (and the right) that they are being treated unfairly and unjustly.

I think this is being used to sell us the next level of tyranny, once again under the guise of safety.  There is a clue in the robotic bomb allegedly deployed to take out the alleged lone shooter.  With 5 cops lying dead in the street and several more with serious wounds, the behavior of the Dallas cops seems awfully restrained.  They would normally be ultra-aggressive when going after a cop-killer.  But they have the shooter trapped and yet they spend all this time negotiating with him?  After he just killed their comrades?  There's nothing to negotiate, the shooter is as good as dead.  

 

But back to the robot.  What's the next level of policing?  To take away the human element (and the danger to human cops) by using robots and drones for everyday police work.  It's already happening in some ways.  The networks of high-def cameras already along highways and in cities are a huge force multiplier.  They are cheap and run 24/7.  The hi-def video can be archived and later analyzed.  License plate readers record date, time, location, and plate number, etc.  Some cities have microphones and even hi-def cameras in every street lamp.  In California, officials planted hidden microphones outside courthouses and even in state parks. 

 

In the military drone program, the pilots fly missions in the Middle East but they actually live in Seattle and sleep in their own beds every night.  Maybe future police work will be done by drone pilots working for Federal agencies.  They could be located anywhere and still "work a shift" in Dallas or anywhere else.  Huge force multiplier, and no human cops are on the front line. 

 

The Dallas PD had a bomb-laden robot ready to go.  Does every big city PD have these?  Do they have other robots?  There are prototype DARPA drones and robots that are essentially Robocops - armed and interacting with the public.  We are turning cops into robots anyway, with the tazers, cameras, comm gear, body armor, weapon systems.  Might as well just mount it all on a bulletproof and mobile robotic frame and take the human cops off the street.

 

As FBT said, If cops continue to be targeted, they will stop responding to calls.  And they will naturally turn to "safer" electronic surveillance and patrol methods.  What's really needed is a Federal takeover of large metro police departments to coordinate these new police methods and to facilitate the sale of militarized robots to the city and state law enforcement agencies.  Oops, Obama already thought of that.  Hmm.

Just reading comments lets you know they have no concern for human life that isn't close enough to their own.  And you really brought up burning churches and hangings lol, you should know thats too outdated for 2016.  Just stick to the current minority profiling by cops, non verbal racism in the workforce by your peers and superiors(THE LIST FOR THIS IS LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG), and the common profiling in suburban and "white" areas.  I live on the southside and i love getting out of my car and seeing the "drug dealer" disgusted look by people because i'm in a nice custom cadillac cts, dressed well, and they aren't.  Even walking through the stores and seeing civilians and employees alike watching me and freezing up/ twitching when i get near or close or have to reach over and say excuse me.  Its pathetic, just like the excuses made for it.  Keep living in fear and hoping the police do the work for you. I'll just keep smiling and doing better in life while "some" of you stay living in denial.
