Pokémon Go

The only issue I'm having is it really seems to drain your battery pretty quickly.  The "battery saver" doesn't really seem to help much.

It really is a battery killer. What's the point of the battery saver? It says it turns the screen off but it doesnt, it just turns it dark with a pokemon go logo on it. As far as I am aware a litle screen full of black is no different then a lit screen full of colors.

I have read if you download your local are on google maps for offline use it will help a lot since the app uses the google maps api for mapping and such.

Battery saver turns off the screen if you're holding the phone upside down. As in earpiece towards the ground, charging port to the ceiling.

Mines keeps the screen on just makes it black but everything (back, home, w/e the name of the square button is) is still accessible.  My phone gets hot as all hell in my pocket if I do the battery saver thing (Nexus 5 with Cyanogen 13).

Quote:APK Mirror has the most up to date version straigth from Niantic and it works on N and Intel devices now. Spent the last three nights walking around with the GF's tiny iphone and yeah I find it pretty fun.

I am more then amazed that a game has gotten people out and walking around. I think that's really cool and I hope Nintendo keeps updating it to keep people interested. I went to Fred Meyer's (publix equivalent out here) and there was a group of about 12 people aged between 12 and like 30 something just catching pokemon. It's really neat to see.
I have seen kids from ages 10ish to high school outside. These kids are ones who are Never outside, ever. If a game can do that, it's a huge positive.

I like how I am seeing businesses embrace it in various ways. Some places advertise have access to pokestops from their dining rooms. Some offer discounts for levels or even teams. It's kind of neat. I wonder if the increase foot traffic will turn into increased revenues for them. Can Nintendo fix the obesity problem and boost the economy?

lol yeah I know, I mean I guess it makes sense in like WoW or something that's extremely time consuming but ionno it seems weird for something like this, when the whole point is to get up and get out. This is like paying someone to get on the treadmill to boost your fitbit steps for you XD.

Your link gives me hope though, two birds with one stone... all for a good cause.

Tip: If you miss hitting anything with the Poke ball and it is rolling on the ground, apparently if you tap it you'll pick it back up and won't lose it from your inventory.
