From some of the reports I've read about Cyp in camp so far, it would seem those concerns about him being a liability are warranted. If Sample wins the starting job at SS, Cyp might have a tough time holding onto his roster spot for the entire season.

 

What reports have you seen on Cyprien? From all accounts I have seen, he looks good. And Sample has been MIA.

There hasn't been much, but I definitely read a clip or a tweet or something that mentioned him looking lost in coverage, or something to that effect as I don't precisely recall the wording.


 

Also, reading between the lines of a recent Gus Bradley's endorsement for Cyp, it sounded like he still had much to learn and wasn't really taking command of the starting role. At least that's how I personally interpreted it, and I know others might not see his words in the same light.

I think regardless, Sample will be our starting SS at some point in the year. I think the staff wants Cyp to play himself out of the position, and if he still deals with the same issues he has since he entered the league, he will get benched and then it's sample's time to shine. Gus seems to really like Cyp... and for good reason because he's seemingly a perfect fit for this scheme. We will see.

Poz has a scheduled day off today then it's possible we will see Myles Jack with the first team at MLB.

 

Julius Thomas will be practicing. Miller and Skuta day off together with Poz. Lee, Evans and Davis not practicing.
