Quote:I live in Jacksonville. North Florida. Tons of veterans. I think you have to agree to retire to Orange park when you sign up.

Thus I hear a lot of "thank you for your service", we love or veterans, the word hero is thrown around a lot.

Apparently a lot of that is a bunch of hooey - at least by some on this board. A family loses a son in service and you can't just do the decent thing and say "Thanks for you son's ultimate sacrifice" and let it go. Nope. Have to attack the mother. Have to attack the father. And now Byron stays true to form and attacks John McCain. All for Donald Trump!

Real classy.

At least now I know that "thank you for your service" really means "thank you for letting me use your service for political purposes."

Nobody is immune to criticism. Not vets, not Christians, not Jews, not Muslims, not republicans, not democrats, not conservatives, not progressives, not Trump, not Clinton. Nobody. Mr. Khan, in my (and millions of others) opinions made statements that were out-of-line or blatantly false. From his completely incorrect assertions about the constitution to the using of his son as a political statement. The same people who attacked Trump, Republicans, and Patricia Smith for using her son as a political tool with Benghazi are now defending the use of the Khan and their son as a political tool for Muslim immigration (and attack on Trump). Do you not see the hypocrisy?

Nobody is throwing out respect for veterans, and to assume so is just silly.

No, I was attacking phony hero McCain years ago.  Did you miss the part where he killed or injured 295 of his shipmates?

What is more bizarre is the sudden love of John McCain from lefties. Remember when he was being called a war criminal and profiteer?

They showed a reporter asking McCain about the Syrian refugees.  "How will we possibly vet them?"  McCain said, "I vetted them myself.  These are my friends."

What did Khan say that was false?

For starters, that immigration cannot be restricted due to the constitution.

Khan said foreign citizens in other countries are equal under our Constitution.  It's a lie.

Really that's how Donald was attacked?

And the constitution does protect foreigners who are here on our country though.

Actually, due process, and other constitutional rights are granted to residents and citizens alike...

Are you trumpettes still picking on a dead soldier's family because they don't like a politician?

From Mr. Khan's speech:

Quote:If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America. Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities; women; judges; even his own party leadership.

He vows to build walls, and ban us from this country. Donald Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future.

Let me ask you: have you even read the United States constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. [he pulls it out] In this document, look for the words 'liberty' and 'equal protection of law'.
If Muslims were banned from entering the country, how could the liberty and equal protection of law he's talking about in our Consitution apply to them? That would be giving non citizens, not in the United Stated, protection under our constitution, no?
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

So where in that quote does it say foreign citizens in other countries are equal under constitutional rights?

There's no mention of it.

He's talking about Muslims being banned from entering the country and then telling Trump to look in the constitution for equal protection of law... exactly who do you think he's talking about that needs equal protection of law?
