Mock Draft 1.0
|
What's up guys. I'm gonna try my hand at one of these. I've only really scouted the QBs in this draft, but I'll do my best. (order based off current rankings)

Kodiak, thanks for your efforts in putting together the Mock Draft and comments.
In terms of current or past NFL LB's, who do you think C.J. Mosley reminds you of? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Does this mean Eric Ebron falls to our pick?! that would be the best christmas ever!
Quote:Kodiak, thanks for your efforts in putting together the Mock Draft and comments.Hmm. Good question. I know he's ridiculously fast. Alabama had him spying Manziel when they played him... Probably Kuechly, the kid in Carolina, except faster probably. He's got incredible sideline-to-sideline speed, and is a phenomenal leader, coverer, and hitter. He's gonna be a stud.

Alabama had him spying Manziel when they played him... That's high praise for sure. As well as MLB Stephen Tulloch and OLB DeAndre Levy are playing this season for the Lions, if C.J. Mosley drops to pick # 23 and Martin Mayhew and co. evaluate him along the lines that you have, he's going to be difficult to pass up. Mayhew has put an emphasis on BAP in the past, looking a season or two down the road. Riley Reiff is exhibit A. Quote:Kodiak, thanks for your efforts in putting together the Mock Draft and comments.Does this pick line up with what Detroit needs? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Edit: Wasn't aware you guys had a guy in, what's his name, Tulloch. Is he good or just solid? Cause CJ Moseley is gonna be a beast.

Quote:Does this pick line up with what Detroit needs? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It's not a current need, based on the Lions using 3 LB's around only 40% of the time. Stephen Tulloch is probably playing a half a notch below Pro Bowl level this season. Tulloch has been extremely durable since coming into the NFL with Tennessee in 2006 and has been a very good FA acquisition ( 2011 ) by the Lions. Tulloch and OLB DeAndre Levy, who is having a Pro Bowl Caliber season, including having 6 Interceptions, practically never come off the field. They are 3 down LB's. The Lions use a nickel Defense more often than not but practically never use a Dime Defense. Considering how much upside C.J. Mosley has, it would be difficult keeping him off the field. If the Lions considered him too good to pass up, which would be a realistic possibility, I can envision the Lions keeping Tulloch, Levy, and Mosley on the field on a much higher % of downs than the current 3rd LB, Ashlee Palmer, sees the field. And see that's the thing about Moseley is that he's so athletic that he can play any LB spot.

I think St. Louis would go with Matthews at #2, they need a bookend LT and I think Matthews is as good a prospect as Barr. Also they have two great DEs which should let them go with a need position in this situation.
Quote:Ok, I feel ya. And see that's the thing about Moseley is that he's so athletic that he can play any LB spot. That would make him that much more football attractive to the Lions. Jim Schwartz and Defensive Coordinator Gunther Cunningham stress versatility. Because of the huge impact that Luke Kuechly is making with the Panthers, that might contribute to C.J. Mosley going earlier in the draft than all around LB's have typically in recent years. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! If St.Louis ends up with pick # 2 and stays in that spot, it probably will come down to them taking a QB if they elect to move on w/o Sam Bradford or Jake Matthews. The Rams certainly need multiple upgrades on their Offensive Line. Jake Long's best football days are likely over, which adds to Matthews' value to them. Quote:Yeah, I've seen him mocked as high as number five. I felt stupid dropping him this low in my mock, but there's no fit. Believe me, when I have put my past annual mock drafts together, I have gone through the same thing many times. In 2011, I had A.J. Green lasting beyond pick # 10, thinking the Bengals would take a QB with pick # 4. It led to a chain reaction of Green dropping much further in my mock draft than I preferred. It turned out to be a major miscalculation, as Green was taken with pick # 4 and has at the very least played up to that draft billing.
Kodiak, if USC WR Marqise Lee declares for the draft, around what spot do you think he projects in the draft?

Quote:Kodiak, if USC WR Marqise Lee declares for the draft, around what spot do you think he projects in the draft?I think it depends on his combine. He has had some injury concerns this season, as well as some concerns about his speed. If he is able to fix those issues, he could be the second rated WR behind Watkins, putting him at maybe 8 to 20. If he doesn't ease the injury stuff, or runs a slow 40, I think he might go early to late second. He's a good player, just a matter of seeing whether he needs a lot or a little developing. Probably a good number 2 receiver in this league.

(order based off current rankings) Which team is ranked number one and playing for the national championship? How come Bill Polian sez that 8 out of the 11 starters on the Seminoles defense are going to be very high draft picks this year, yet you don't have a single one in your list?

Lee doesn't ease the concerns you touched on both the draft, it's possible he could be a version of what Keenan Allen was this year in terms of a WR dropping because of speed and injury concerns. At least for now, it looks like the Chargers got a steal as a result. |
