Chris Reed (#64)

He's making the case so far. He had a decent showing against the Jets but also had a couple of bad plays. As long as he cleans up the bad plays and finishes camp strong he should make it.

He was outstanding with the first team. He wasn't as good with the backups. He keeps playing well he is making the team.
For a second year undrafted free agent from a small school, I think he is progressing well. I don't think he was overwhelmed last week. I would be surprised if he does not make the roster.

Only a chump boos the home team!
Quote:I think Chris Reed is a future starter in this league Apparently the Jags have loved him since last year.
I would pencil him in as a member of the 53 and depending on what happens from now until the beginning of the season maybe even a starter on our O-Line

I definitely have him making the team. With Josh Wells and Luke Bowanko hurt, here are the lineman we know will make the team
Linder Cann Joeckel Beachum Pernell Shatley They will probably carry O-Linemen. Thus 3 spots are open and Reed will get one of them. The real question is who will be the backup OT until Wells can come back
Good, cheap depth.
For those unfamiliar: Reed signed a 3 year deal last year as an UDFA.(1.5mil) Minnesota State product.
Most likely there will be four backup OLs assuming Beachum and Joekel are both starting. At this point I'm convinced that Wells and Reed are taking two of the spots, but Reed has to keep it up. One poor showing in a Preseason game and he could still find himself axed.
The remaining two spots are the tough ones, and I suspect that Jacques McClendon was signed to take one of them at least until Bowanko is back. If he does, that only leaves one spot to fight for with the primary contenders being Omameh, Linkenbach, Shatley and Bernadeau. Of these, since they'd have Reed and McClendon inside, they probably prefer someone who can play outside which suggests Omameh or Linkenbach. Don't be suprised if Shatley and Bernadeau end up in the final round of cuts. Meanwhile, I'm guessing that Slater and Ross are fighting for a PS spot.

I think they really like Shatley, 02.
He's been here long enough to backup multiple positions and looked pretty good as a backup last year. I think he's safe if he's healthy at cut time. We show less advertisements to registered users. I know they liked him going into camp, but I'm sort of speculating here with the McClendon signing and with Shatley not looking all that great since camp started.

McClendon looked like hot garbage the last time he was a jag. Maybe Shatley can play guard better than center. Maybe he needs more reps at center. Whatever the case may be, i wouldnt pencil in McClendon anywhere right now lol
On topic though, im hoping Reed can keep getting better. Itd be sweet to have found a LG through udfa. Im still expecting us to draft O-line heavy next year thi.

Wasn't watching the o-line at that point much, so I don't have a solid opinion on him beyond what he did early in the game. Will check him out tomorrow. Quote:He gets the spot "we all" had penciled Bernadeau in, imo. Yup. Not sure who/why some were touting Beradeau. I heard a blurb on the radio from one of the first days of camp that he was so bad he didn't even look NFL caliber, and nothing good was said since. Except from someone here, I think, who wasn't even at the practices.
