Colin Kap won't stand for National Anthem...just wow

I've yet to see a press gang from a prison rounding people up and tossing them into cells. People in prison are rarely there for profit margin.

Quote:If you need a "how to" on making friends from strangers, I'm not going to be the person to give that to you. You can research that on your own. I'm simply telling you, if we all venture outside of our comfort zone to know ppl we wouldn't normally know it will go a long way.

You familiarize yourself with the actual definition of racist. Then you won't worry about someone accusing you covertly of being one because you will know if you are one or not. Never got you thoughts on oppression or if you read that article or not.

Nobody oppresses the black community quite like the black community.  I'm not interested in reading the article.  You've wasted enough of my time dodging questions and launching personal attacks that I'm not in the mood to do homework at your request.

Not that it's any of your business but two of my four groomsmen were black, but you've apparently already got everybody figured out.  You probably think I just made that up as well.  Your recent posting history indicates that if someone doesn't agree with you then they're either an uncle tom or a racist. Liberally and indiscriminately playing the race card is in itself an antagonistically racist act.  If you're truly interested in introspective self-improvement, you might want to think about that.  If you want to continue being a shill for militant left wing ideology, be my guest but I'll be bowing out of the conversation with you.

I don't need a "how to", I'm asking for substance from you but at best you fail to provide any or at worst you launch personal attacks and then claim you didn't.  Don't worry, I'm not losing any sleep over it, but I'm not sure there's anywhere else to go from here.

I just said in another thread we don't use the term uncle Tom. This is sad. The guy said I flew off handle... your not interested in the black community or its plight. Stop pretending.

Who are you to speak for the entire community?

Does it really matter if you don't use the term any longer if the implications are still the same?

I've spelled out numerous times why I requested the info and stated I agreed with some of his premises. Where's the implication if I agree?

Im someone who spends time in the community, who talks to a lot of ppl about the issues. I may not be a spokesperson, but I better represent the pulse than the ppl you mentioned. Those names never even come up in conversation. The Sharptons of the world are here for your entertainment, but we don't wait with baited breath about anything they have to say.

That actually should be refreshing for you to find out. Going by the posts on here, you and others find them abhorrent.

I don't agree with everything America does and the flag stands for much of that.  However you have to take the bad with the good.  You live in a country that afforded you the opportunity to get a 115 million dollar contract to play a game.  Many men have fought over the years to protect the basic freedoms you have here.  Standing for the flag is standing for those Tuskegee Airmen, its standing for a united nation MLK jr dreamed about.  Its standing for a country that decided slavery was wrong and fought an entire war to end it.  Well you might not appreciate that cops kill people at times, you can appreciate that cops also take the domestic violence call, they go help flood victims, they stand security at games so some psycho doesn't come and shoot up the place.  When you refuse to stand up for a symbol because of some of its negatives you are also refusing to stand for its positives.  That black man that died serving his country because he wanted to get out of a negative environment and do something more with his life, you turned your back on him as well.

I'll give you this, you certainly think highly of yourself.

This has nothing to do with thinking highly of myself. Do you just want to believe we walk to the beat of Sharpton's drum? Maybe you could tell me where your getting this info.

No, the point is that the "we" you keep emphasizing is an unknown quantity of individuals. That you claim no one you ever talk to listens to Sharpton, et al, doesn't do anything to dispel my observations of the large numbers of people who do. You place your intimate local knowledge above some pretty obvious national coverage of famous and infamous leaders of your movement, which is why I believe you maybe, just a little, think too highly of yourself.

Quote:He is disrespecting our country, that's the problem.
Bull. Sitting during the anthem is protected speech under the First Amendment. The unamerican thing to do would be standing for an anthem out of rote or perceived "patriotism" rather than exercising the right that the forefathers of our nation died to win.

Kaepernick's speech is as protected as the speech of those who are tearing up or burning his jersey. He disagrees with something and uses his national profile to make a statement about it. You disagree with his way of expressing disapproval and create a thread on a message board about it. That's how free speech works. Pissing and moaning because someone chooses to exercise that right is disrespecting our country.

Yes, it's protected. He's still an [BLEEP].

I thought you were skeptical of the media?

Why are you so desperate to run from the leaders of your movement?

Anyway, back on topic...

Is it unreasonable to expect that Kaepernick will give back all that money he took from shoe makers and headphone companies that exploit Chinese and other foreign workers to make the product, or is money actually more important that his (very recent) public anti-America stance?

Seriously, if you go out and talk to black ppl you will see they don't care what he has to say. He does some good things, pays for funerals and legal representation, but beyond that nothing. It's not like I'm the only black person on this board. Who is going to speak up for him? We see slightly different than you do.
