I miss certain cable shows, but there's not much you can't find these days via internet. Apple TV offers a lot of free programming for local and even cable channels as well. Comcast was just getting too expensive and when they changed their platform to the improved X1, we had more outages than ever! Not sure what the problem was, but we had techs out at our home constatnly. This was pretty much the final straw and though, lets give it a go. I thought we'd miss it more, but we really don't. 

I need to look into how to get local channels for football season. Even though I would only be able to watch whatever they show up here in NC, some football is better than none. I had NFL Gamepass but with 2 surgeries in 14 months plus physical therapy I decided to let it go this year because that stuff was not free. Plus watching the games a day later is kind of messed up. If NFL would have a streaming thing where people could watch the games live I would be all over that. It would be worth it as long as it was a reasonable price.

 

Anyway, back to our regular programming.....

I'm about to watch episode 8. A few observations:

 

Matthew Modine looks creepy with that silver hair.

 

Smart high school girls always fall for the wrong guy.

 

Winona Ryder plays freaked out like she's been there, which I suspect she has.

 

Millie Bobby Brown is an awesome actress, with an awesome name.

 

I'm loving the 80s music and feel, as well as the series homage to fiction from that era, specifically Spielberg, King, Reiner, Lucas, Carpenter, et al. (Ok, I stole that from Wikipedia, but it is spot on).

Stranger Things has been renewed for season two! It will come out sometime next year and have 10 episodes. I really hope they don't screw it up by making things too complicated or over done.

I was kind of hoping it would be an anthology type show. I don't really see a need for a sequel for stranger things.

I didn't feel the need for a sequel either but I totally want to know what happened to Eleven, and I loved all of the young characters and how well the actors did portraying them. Really I loved them all though. I need to watch the series again but have been super busy.

This. There is another show I really enjoyed but can't think of the name of it to save my life right now. The first season was perfection but season two was too ambitious and "they" screwed it up. Writers, directors, everyone dropped the ball and I realized they should have just left it at the end of the season. That's why when I enjoy a show at the level I enjoyed Stranger Things, I want it to come back so I can love it again, but there is the possibility of it getting royally screwed. 

 

Season one of Bloodline was fantastic. Season two was okay. If you stuck it out until the end you saw interesting dynamics happening.

Really dig the 80s vibe.

 

Is that Tangerine Dream on the soundtrack/score?  Regardless, that really feeds the authentic feel.

 

I noticed a couple ticky tacky anachronisms but otherwise they nail the 80s feel.
