Professors tell students: Drop class if you dispute man-made climate change

Quote:College has always been a study of professors. Read their published works and spend the semester regurgitating it. Get an A and learn nothing. Quote:Thank you for the comprehensive review of my life, which you know absolutely nothing about. How do you conclude I "hate" on a college education because I had a successful method of obtaining one? And my "safe space" after college was working as a meat cutter. Those are your words above. You clearly made a statement that shows you have no respect for the University Education. First off, I want to apologize for my personal attack on you. It was a punk move on my part and I apologize. There's no need for me to go after you like I did. With that said, I find it frustrating that the argument is being made that education is bad, or not beneficial to society. Without Universities, we'd not have the society we currently have. The infrastructure for technology, advancement, and entrepreneurship occurs because of our University education system that is laid upon a free market that allows for risk takers to flourish. But a risk taker without a proper education is worthless. Yes, there are exceptions, like Bill Gates who dropped out of college. But the vast majority of industries need highly educated individuals who can think critically and have a formal University education. The fact that a HUMANITIES class is directing the education of students that are enrolled in the class is absolutely normal. To think otherwise is ridiculous. Don't attack the University. They are providing the arena for learning and understanding. If a student enters into a place where a particular topic isn't appropriate, it's the student's responsibility to figure that out.
I don't know that the big deal is, everyone knows the political slant of 98% of Humanities teachers, this kind of coursework should be no surprise. If students want to take 3 hours on a fantasy-based reality then have at it. The only thing that bothers me is that my taxes are being used to fund a faith-based curriculum.

Quote:Those are your words above. You clearly made a statement that shows you have no respect for the University Education. Again you're making huge assumptions. You seem to think it's disrespectful to learn how to get good grades. Quote:It's not my job to educate your idiocy. If you want to be enlightened, go to school. Otherwise, enjoy your flat earth society. So you can't. Next time just say so.

Quote: People that hate on university education because they couldn't hack it and claim Universities are "indoctrination centers" are just as dangerous as any mooselm terrorist, Mexican illegal, or BLM protester terrorist. I'll invite a dozen people who hate on university education into my house if you'll invite a dozen Muslim terrorists into yours. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Quote:People that hate on university education because they couldn't hack it and claim Universities are "indoctrination centers" are just as dangerous as any mooselm terrorist, Mexican illegal, or BLM protester terrorist. Pretty typical liberal condescending remark. So people indoctrinated "educated" in a University are the only real thinkers and innovators? Somebody should have told Steve Wozniak that. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Quote:So you can't. Next time just say so. You're not willing to learn. It's not that I cannot explain to you. But you're willfully ignorant. There's a difference... But you know that.
Quote:I'll invite a dozen people who hate on university education into my house if you'll invite a dozen Muslim terrorists into yours. I've had several Muslims in my house thoughout my life. And I've visited a mosque and have eaten dinner at the homes of Muslims since I was a child. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Again you're making huge assumptions. You seem to think it's disrespectful to learn how to get good grades. When you say that you do not learn anything at a University, I think it's clear your feelings. Don't act dumb. It's a bad look.
Quote: You're reading comprehension needs work. It's interesting that you cut out the part of my post that actually goes against what you just said. That's a pretty terrible thing you just did. You attack me for something I actually discussed, but cut out that part to make your point.
Quote:Those are your words above. You clearly made a statement that shows you have no respect for the University Education. I'll bold the part you cut out JIB. Again, really gutless and pathetic. It makes you look like a peice of garbage when do pull junk like that.
Quote:You're reading comprehension needs work. It's interesting that you cut out the part of my post that actually goes against what you just said. My reading comprehension is just fine. My point is that you seem to hold a college degree above everybody else and seem to think that the only true innovators and great thinkers are college educated. Here is your full quote. Quote: So in your words, a risk taker without a proper indoctrination "education" is worthless. The only individuals that can think critically are "highly educated" and have a "formal University education". Some of the best critical thinkers that have made and developed much of our current technology either never went to college or dropped out. By the way, I didn't attack you. Quote:I'll bold the part you cut out JIB. Again, really gutless and pathetic. It makes you look like a peice of garbage when do pull junk like that. Whatever... Who's attacking who here? By the way, it didn't take a college education for me to learn how to properly spell "piece". There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Quote:My reading comprehension is just fine. My point is that you seem to hold a college degree above everybody else and seem to think that the only true innovators and great thinkers are college educated. You left out the point that disputes what you just said. You are trying to find fault with my arguement when my arguement addressses that exact fault you were trying to find. Innovations in IT may be an area where a formal education isn't necessary... Which is why I mentioned Bill Gates. There are always entrepreneurs that create a business without a college degree. I pointed that out. But are you gonna sit there and say that University education is not important? I'm gonna tell you that you're absolutely wrong. The advances in medicine, in physics, in space exploration, in engineering and robotics, these are all advances in which a formal College Education is required. Do I think that's better than the plumber or electrician, or IT coder that does well for himself? No, not really. And I've said as much in other threads. But at the macro economic level, University education is the key driver of advancement of a society. That's just the facts, bro.
Quote:You left out the point that disputes what you just said. You are trying to find fault with my arguement when my arguement addressses that exact fault you were trying to find. Evidently your university "education" failed you. Not a good look for you. I won't say that you look like a piece of garbage (like you did to me) but it's not a good look. Advances in each and every industry that you mentioned does not "require" a formal college education. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Quote:Evidently your university "education" failed you. Not a good look for you. I won't say that you look like a piece of garbage (like you did to me) but it's not a good look. Lame. Focusing on the typos, but not on the argument proves that you realize that you are in the wrong. You realize that you called me a "typical liberal" and then went on to take what I wrote, cut out a specific part of it, and then attack me on the part you cut out. But you started this whole thing. I'm not a "typical liberal", and for you to call me that, while attacking my post by cutting out the part that you wanted to attack me on is not cool. Admit it, apologize, and move on. Quote:When you say that you do not learn anything at a University, I think it's clear your feelings. Don't act dumb. It's a bad look. No it's just your inability to understand. Studying professors is harder than studying the course material, and I did both. When I said, "Get straight A's and learn nothing", did you really think that meant literally, "learn nothing"? I learned the course material, learned the professor, and learned how to be successful as measured by the grading system. But learning is much more than stroking the ego of your teacher and much more than repeating what you are told. I've said before I couldn't really learn about the world until I unlearned much of what I already knew. A formal education is a form of indoctrination. How can anything new be learned or discovered if one only parrots the textbooks?
Quote:Lame. Focus on the typos, but not on the argument proves that you realize that you are in the wrong. You need to work on your reading comprehension. Again your college indoctrination "education" has failed you. I never called you a "typical liberal" I said that your remark was a "pretty typical liberal condescending remark.". If I "attacked" anything it was your remark, not you personally. Admit it, apologize and move on. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Quote:No it's just your inability to understand. Studying professors is harder than studying the course material, and I did both. When I said, "Get straight A's and learn nothing", did you really think that meant literally, "learn nothing"? I learned the course material, learned the professor, and learned how to be successful as measured by the grading system. So you took classes that you already knew all the material on? Wow, that was never the case for me... There were some courses that I knew some material from HS at the 100 or 200 level. But even those courses had new material that I had never read, leaned, or been introduced to... As for your second point... Learning a science is all about parroting from textbooks. How else can you learn it? That makes no sense to me. |
