Get Josh Sitton- G NOW!

Quote:My only guess is Caldwell is sticking by his long term personnel philosophy and feels he has given Gus enough to finally hold him accountable for the results.

Also it almost feels like Joeckel and Cyprien are "his guys". Neither of them have shown much and both have been automatic starters for four years now...

The problem is, by the time Dave gets around to replacing the busts from his 1st draft with great talents, Gus will have already tainted the great talent from his 2nd and 3rd drafts, then it will have to start all over. All goes back to HC.

Yep, Jax not being Sitton's first visit clearly means Dave didn't even bother trying and is just sitting on his hands being cheap because we have Joeckel.

Most in demand FAs don't get past the first visit. Not saying he's being cheap but it's disappointing.

Y'all gotta put it in perspective. The demand for an all pro guard is high. All teams but GB are probably in a bidding war except the ones who know they can't afford him. You don't throw just a blank check at a 30 year old guard when we gotta take care of our own players soon. Joeckel/Reed/whoever will get us through the season and then you go from there.

Did Dave not see Joeckel get put on his butt in a very embarrassing way like 50 times already?

Lol so that's how it works?
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I don't see him coming to Jax.  Reason being he wants a long term lucrative deal.  And dave stays out of cap trouble by not panicking and building through the draft.

If Dave wants him bad enough he will do it.

Quote:Schefter reporting his first visit is to the Bears, and that the Saints may follow. I honestly didn't think we'd even take a look.
What?  Chicago has 2nd rounder Cody Whitehair starting at LG.

It makes sense from Sitton's point of view though.  Chicago is close to Green Bay. He was probably blind-sided with this and doesn't want to move his family, so I'm sure he will be traveling back and forth to the Green Bay area from where ever he signs quite frequently.

Apparently. Either we get him, or Dave didn't even try. No inbetweens.

That makes sense.  Since already accomplished all you can in NFL.  His family time is probably super important,

Quote:Davon House called him the heart of the OL.

Man i really want this guy signed. It would be dumb not to.
Well, considering there are multiple teams who also desperately need OL help, and the fact it looks like he may want to stay in NFC with his first visit being CHI, it's kind of hard not to.

I'm willing to bet we want to sign him, but that doesn't mean we will, and it's not Dave's fault if we don't...you can't get all your targets.

Quote:Apparently we are supposed to get every player that could be a good fit. I guess there's not 30 other teams that could use a pro bowl level guard
It's hilarious reading this board.

Like Josh Sitton's top choice to to come to a perennial bad team? I get we're on the rise hopefully but let's get real here. There are much more serious contenders/may want to stay in NFC North and stick it to GB so he'll sign in CHI or something.

Like come on. We're not getting every good player on market.

This guy knows our first opponent's offense and would fill a big need. Lets do it. You know he wants to play against them.

No pain, no gain.

Hence a compelling reason that he might be looking at Chicago first, so he can play them twice.

Arguably,  the # 1 motivational factor for him.

with all the cap room we have, we absolutely should be begging him to come here.. he is a clear upgrade at both guard spots.... OL still seemed to be an issue in the preseason.  This is a no brainer move, not to mention we play GB in week 1...

What if dave offered him something and he said no and his agent said no.  Maybe he no longer likes florida heat.  And wants the cooler chicago.
