I would be surprised if that's the case being that Josh Sitton is from Jacksonville.

FWIW I wouldn't want to play in my hometown.  Too much pressure and people you went to school with bothering you for tickets, money, etc.

I guess if the money was enough, but still, I would prefer to play elsewhere.

Sitton was born in Jacksonville he didn't grow up here.

You speak as if we have won more than 5 games a year since my children were born. Wait until you have a platform to stand on before speaking like you do.

I totally understand and respect your preference,

Though a significant % of NFL players likely have a similar opinion,   my guess is most NFL players would want to play in their hometown or close by.

According to the Bio on the Packers Official Website,  which might be taken down soon for obvious reasons,  Josh Sitton has a residence in Pensacola,    Though Pensacola isn't in the Jaguars primary market,  it's relatively close to Jax compared to most of the country.

While it's more likely than not that Sitton's primary motivation is to remain in the NFC North in order to face the Packers twice a season,   he probably would sign with the Jaguars if the team made him an offer that's appealing compared compared to what he could get elsewhere.   With the Jaguars probably closer to the top than the bottom of his preference list if financial terms are equal.

Someone brought up a good point earlier with regards to signing Sitton; we have quite a few people coming up for contract extensions, including the QB as well as our best player, Allen Robinson, after this season. It may not be worth paying a 30 year old guard with reported back issues the money it would take to get him here, especially if it hamstrings our ability to sign Bortles, AR15, Linder, and whoever else. Besides, it kills me how you guys think Green Bay let some all pro lineman leave for absolutely no reason other than money. Those guys aren't gonna put Rogers' rump on the line because they don't want to pay for someone.

I wouldn't totally hate it, but I'm opposed to signing someone else's used goods for huge money, and that's what it would take to bring him here.

OK back to the "this is a no-brainer" crowd.

Will it be worth paying a QB whos going to get killed if we keep Joeckel at guard? We have alot of cap space, Sitton will not break the bank.

We can find a guard in the draft. Sihning a 30 year old guy who allegedly has back problems for what's probably gonna be big money doesn't sit well with me. Not for one of the easier positions to draft for anyway. Blake will be fine, and will get paid, whether you welp yourself to death or not. We're pretty much stuck with Joeckel for one more year. Your choice whether to accept that or not.

I obviously do not have a choice in the matter but to sit back and not upgrade a certain position on the team is idiotic.

Not if doing so would potentially hurt your future. You saw what happened in 99. We spent for guys like Carnell Lake and Bryce Paup because they were "clear upgrades". Those contracts made it impossible to keep guys like Keenan McCardell years later, and those guys didn't do much to help the team either.

I'm all for an upgrade, but this team isn't winning the superbowl this or next year, so why pay a 30 year old guy who just got cut and might be injured and plays a non premium position? Save the money, pay your guys, and do everything you can to fix it next offseason. The offensive line will get treated the same way the defense did. Repeating history with old free agents we as fans claim as "no brainers" is the truly idiotic thing.

I want Sitton, but not being able to afford him is a reasonable argument. We are about to be very cap strapped very soon.

Come next year, we can trade in Hennes and Lewis' salary for his. And have some left over.

And we have to resign Blake, Arob, Linder, and Telvin by the end of next year, and pick up the options on Beachum for 10 mil/yr. I also want to keep Amukamara.

We probably could make it work, but it would not have been easy at all. It's a defensible position.

Well, that's that. Guess we will enjoy the guy drafted at #2 to play LG. Sorry Blake!
