Tre Mason

A lot of of mocks have us drafting a RB in the 2nd. If we do what do you guys think about Mason. He has been on a tear as of late and I think he has the best cuts in college, where he just plants his foot, changes direction, and hits the hole . To me he just seems like he is hard to get a hold of and tackle. Over 1600 yds and 22 TDs this year. If we do draft a RB in the 2nd I wouldn't mind Mason. Hopefully we wait till at least the 3rd before we draft a RB though.

Shock the world
He has looked good, but is he a product of the system? Idk. I think he is really good.
Is he a complete RB? Blitz pickup? Good hands?
Personally i like Carey from Arizona, he's a complete do it all RB just like MJD.
If Auburn's offensive line has anything to do with it, he would not have nearly the same success in Jacksonville. The offensive line needs to be rebuilt no matter who our future running back is.

Have to also agree with the woman. We should not be getting a running back in the second round. Third round tops.
On quite a few of his runs he was 5 yards down field before he got touched and I'm not a fan of taking a RB in the 2nd with so many other needs.
Mason's probably around a 4th-5th round talent. Not real good at pass-pro and not a huge factor in the passing game. If you wanted to draft a power back with some speed in the later rounds, BC's Andre Williams would be a better look.
Personally, I'd rather have Sankey before any other back in this draft, reminds me of Shady McCoy with a bit more power. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I don't want to see the Jags draft a RB any earlier than the 4th. With our pick or Baltimore's pick?

Hopefully we wait till at least the 3rd before we draft a RB though. I just got through watching lots of RB video. The dual-threat QB has killed the college football running game. Not a lot you can do with the ball running out of the shot-gun. The zone blocking stuff has offensive lines taking a side-step first, or a step back first. The offensive linemen are either being scrunched up or tossed. It's a clogged up mess to try and run from the shot-gun. The offensive lines are playing incredibly defensive. We lack aggressiveness. Everybody lacks aggressiveness. The only college runner I have seen that isn't simply attempting to out-speed his way to clear territory is Tulsa RB Trey Watts. Trey is the most patient running back in the draft. His plugging along running style reminds me exactly of Emmit Smith. Is "possession" running back a valid NFL term? If so, any team that drafts Trey should intend on using him similar to the way Dallas ran Emmit.

As a guy that has coached ZBS, and actually understands the reason for the side or "load" step, I think it's fair to say that you have no idea what you are talking about and that all you are doing is surfing for smaller school guys and those that are not talked about as much in the media. That being said; keep 'em comin' brother. I'm enjoying the show
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

If you are lame enough to actually use a zone block scheme, er, well, that's nice. Good for you. Real NFL teams with real offensive linemen can figure out how to inflict their will on the opponent. These go places. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmtVeqMt6dc I feel complete satisfaction.

Fred Taylor was pretty much terrible in blitz pickup as a Jag....
Just to put that into perspective. Yes, all things being equal, you'd prefer a RB to be adept at blitz pickup, but the most important thing for a RB is, you know, his main job, i.e. playmaking, extending drives, topping 4.0 YPC, et al....
Quote:Fred Taylor was pretty much terrible in blitz pickup as a Jag.... Riggins said it best, "I'm a running back. Just get me the ball and I'll figure it out."

Quote:Do you go to Tulsa or something because you've been talking up these Tulsa players quite a bit No, but they have cool uniforms. Seriously, Watts is doing everything the right way. As for Tulsa, I like many others caught their bowl game last season and made an effort to review a few of their games this year to see what made their offense tick. Cody Green is NOT unknown to NFL scouts. He was benched this season on a bad coaching decision, and, as proof it was wrong, it did nothing, but make the Golden Hurricane worse. Two players on the same team worthy of pro scout consideration. That's a no-no?
