Derek Carr's stock is rising fast according to report

Quote:I think I'd rather have Manziel over Carr too. Ideally, I'd rather have neither. But if choosing between the lesser of 2 evils. I don't trust Carr, between the bloodline to an NFL BUST at QB, the gimmicky offense, never taking a snap under Center, the happy feet he started to show in the Utah game when finally facing a team that had a good pass rush....
Its either you're an idiot or you really hate the guy, or both. Carr played prostyle for a whole season. Manziel also plays in a gimmicky offense, took less snaps under center, Carr is more durable and is a great pocket passer.  But haters gonna hate.

I did say ideally I want "neither" can't you read?

LOL....Carr is a great pocket passer....yeah with a pristine pocket, which he won't get in the NFL. He started to show chinks in that armour with some happy feet Saturday Night vs Utah. I'm glad people finally got to see that.

Well, at least you were half right. I do hate Carr.

You said he never took snaps under center which is incorrect, do you just spout nonsense?

He is a great pocket passer, much much better than Johnny Football.   Chinks is due to the fact that thats the best defense he's played all season and he has one of the worst Olines in college football. Utah St defense is ranked 11th overall in the country before the game.  David Fales had his worst game of his career against this same Utah St. defense.

Thats why your opinion of him doesnt matter because you hate the guy.  Its ok to not like a prospect but to hate him is just plain embarrassing and it shows you're trying to push an agenda.

I really like Carr. Not only does he posses the requisite physical traits like arm strength, accuracy, touch, size. He has the mental skills like anticipation, leadership, read progession.

He looks to have great feel for the game. I've seen multiple times where he would make pre-snap reads, check into a different play, and throw a TD.

I'd much rather have Carr than Manziel.  I think Derek will be most certainly better than his brother.  I wonder how he'd be viewed if his name were Derek Johnson or something.  I think his ceiling may be Tony Romo with more clutch.  I'm not sold on him, but I trust Caldwell enough that if he drafts him, then I'll have faith for a while at least.

Ideally I'd love to combine McCarron and Carr into AJ-Derek McCARRon.   But that's not possible.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

TMD wrote off Carr the moment he found out who his brother was. He already said he won't get over his bloodlines.

My opinion on Carr is that he like every other prospect has his moments where he looks great then he'll have his d'oh! moment he's my 2nd favorite guy so if we ended up with him I'd be just fine with it.

Josh McCown vs Luke McCown vs Randy McCown.  I wouldn't want any of them, but I'd take the middle brother Josh over the other two looking at what he's doing in Chicago.

Sid Luck wasn't that great either.

Like I said, I think everyone questions it some -- is he going to be his brother.  David wasn't put in a good situation to succeed though really.

The only bloodline I'd avoid is probably the Gabbert bloodline.  If we draft Tyler Gabbert for any other reason that Blaine having the blackmail information that Gene Smith seemed to have, I will probably faint.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Carr over Manziel for me easily. Im not fully sold on Carr as i feel Bridgewater is still better but Carr does have the potential and im warming up to him as i wacth game after game on draft breakdown.

Carr really does have the best deep ball of the class and his short/medium range touch is nearly on Bridgewaters level. I feel Teddy to be the more cerebral Qb while Carr is the more classic gunslinger think with my arm(gun) type of QB. Neither are truly scramblers but both can take off with Bridgewater to me seeming to be slightly faster but slightly more likely to take a big hit due to a smaller frame.

Carr is closing the gap and at this point its starting to be which one better fits your team vs which one is actually better. If we can work on Carr's footwork and ability to  makes reads/checks at the line than i have no problem with taking him.

Josh McCown sucked his entire career until this recent anomalous surge. The fact that the Bears offense is loaded probably doesn't hurt, either....

LOL! Thats just embarrassing.  With almost 42k post count, you'd think he'd have a better grasp at the game of football or at the very least player evaluations. They're not even the same type of player, not even close. Hate does crazy things i guess.

Carr is as cerebral as Teddy both makes a lot of pre snap reads and adjustments, but the thing with Teddy is he has better footwork and pocket presence and with his experience and command of the pro style offense, the transition will be much smoother.  If we draft Carr i would like for him to sit a year or at least most of the season.  The way the season is going we will not be in position to draft either Sad.  Thats why i want Fales in the third, hes like poor mans bridgewater.

Quote:But everyone knows Eli is not even close to catching up with Peyton. When asked, "Who are the best NFL quarterbacks?" nobody ever says, "The Manning brothers." Of course we all know Eli is very good as well, but everyone knows he will never make the "best quarterbacks" list. I totally forgot about Tim Hasselbeck. Other brothers who have played quarterback in the NFL are Ty and Koy Detmer.

There's like 8 McCown brothers

That is all good, but there are many more traits a quarterback needs to succeed in the NFL:

1. Ability to break out of a sack while a defender is holding him and throw the ball

2. Knowing when to throw the ball away or carry it across the LOS to avoid a sack

3. Making sure all offensive linemen and receivers know what to do on every play

4. Ability to make all of the throws with a tight spiral regardless of what his feet do

5. Never locking his eyes on the receiver; always looking for the guy covering him

Can Derek Carr do all that much better than his brother?

Actually someone posted during the year Peyton was hurt he said most of his passes are thrown off his back foot. Therefore, he does not need perfect footwork to complete every pass he attempts.

Not talking about his footwork, he doesn't throw a tight spiral very often never really has.

I will have to pay closer attention to that one. For some reason it never looked wobbly to me.

Teddy >>>>>>>>> Carr.

Teddy will easily be a much better pro.

Hopefully the Texans are dumb enough to select Carr 2.0 and repeat history. Doing this may also allow Bridgewater to fall to us. Here's hoping.
