Analyzing UCF vs South Carolina for Blake Bortles

Quote:Oh wow I didn't know he was a redshirt sophomore.  That rules him out as prospect this year imo.  Has he declared for the draft?  I don't see why he would so early.

I honestly think it makes no sense for him to go pro now.  I feel like he just got on the draft potential radar.  He needs to stay in school, develop his game, and improve his draft stock.  I mean, two more good years at UCF and he could be a top 10 pick.  Right now, there is no way he goes in the first round.  0 chance.

Just to be perfectly clear: a red-shirt sophomore this year is eligible for the 2014 NFL Draft.

From Wikipedia:

Football players who have been out of high school for at least three years are eligible for the NFL draft. The rules do not state that a player must attend college, but virtually all of the players selected in the NFL draft played college football. A year as a redshirt player in college counts toward eligibility even though the player was not allowed to participate in games during that year. Therefore players who have completed their redshirt sophomore year can enter the NFL draft. A few players are also selected from other football leagues like the Arena Football League or the Canadian Football League.

Kodiak -- I think you are one of the few writers that actually takes the time to review the games and make factual statements.

I got so used to people like Alfie coming on this board and "winging it" that I lost all hope in the reporting & communications industry .....

ya i know that. that is why i said he should stay in school. why would i say he should stay in school if i thought he was inelogible?

he is a junior, so it doesn't matter. i still say he isn't ready though

I still don't think he'll come out. But if we could get him in the 2nd, I'd be ecstatic.

Quote:Good write up. Anyways I just don't see anything special with Bortles, I'd rather have Brett Hundley, he is very raw but he has way more potential.  But i wouldn't touch either until the second round.
Blaine Gabbert was very raw with a ton of potential... and look where we are now...

Also thank you very much for the write up Kodiak Big Grin

I'm just saying the phrase has a lot of potentially is like getting beat up in a dark alley causing quivering every time you hear footsteps in the dark  or in Gabberts case getting beat up in the pocket then quivering.......

Just feel like if we are gunna take a risk take the Boom or bust risk instead.

Well I'm a UCF homer so you need to factor that in.

thank you. There's way to much "potential" in this draft. Furthermore the comparison to Andy Dalton isn't bad. If you look at the season Dalton is having other than that Miami game he hasn't had a horrible game this year. If Dalton was here and Blackmon wasn't suspended this team would probably be 8-5
