It is only really understood by Tumblr, Reddit, #chan, 9gag, and other meme-based internet communities. I wouldn't expect anyone over the age of 35 to know who or what a Pepe or Wojack is. Journalists attacking some stupid internet caricature is only going to make them look petty and disconnected while turning off young voters. Older voters wont even know what the hell they are talking about. It also will spur the creation of more memes mocking and discrediting these media outlets.

It's a reddit thing on r/The_Donald.

If you've ever read stuff on The_Donald, I'd say about 90% of the supporters of trump on that sub-reddit are racist, islamophobic, bigots, that literally hate women.

Just saying.  That cartoon is a symbol of the bigots that love trump.  That's just how it is.

Pepe has existed as a meme long before the_Donald ever existed and Trump decided to run for office.

I suppose.  I cannot confirm or deny that, because I have never seen that meme untill it became attached to trump.

The point is that whether it existed before trump, it has no become co-opted by the trump bigots and is a symbol to them.  It's like the swastika.  The swastika was around well before the Nazis, but the Nazis co-opted that and it is now a symbol of bigotry.

That's basically what's happened with this inbred Kermit the Frog thing...

LOL, Reddit is where all of it began.  It's the Mos Eisley of the internet.

Wow, you admit there's something you don't know?

When was the last time any trumpette did that?  I've actually admitted mistakes as well.  When you corner a trumpette, they run either deflect, ignore, or stop posting.
