Based on the fact that Louisville was already a favorite in this game (according to the betting odds), doesn't the FSU injury make the game less interesting?

I can't believe the line would be that close for Louisville vs. FSU.  Are the Cardinals really that good this year?

Michigan is smart.  They schedule cream puffs with big time names (e.g. Hawaii, UCF, Colorado).

 

They had a combined 7 victories in 2015 --- and one of those victories came in a Hawaii vs Colorado game where someone had to win.

Michigan State does this too from time to time.

MSU has had Notre Dame or Oregon on their September Schedule for years now.

 

The strategy is not a knock on Michigan but rather quite intelligent to remove a top 10 non-conference opponent but when you look at their schedule and see Colorado & Hawaii it still looks like a decent schedule.  With that in mind, when people see Michigan Vs Colorado or Hawaii, it looks like a lot better game than seeing Michigan vs W. Michigan or Bowling Green which would actually be a more competitive game.

I understand what you were getting at and agree. I wasn't knocking MSU either, but they do schedule non conference opponents with "name" like this too. Air Force last season for example.

You guys are ignoring the fact that every Power 5 Conference team does this. September opponents are usually cupcakes. Matchups like the upcoming Ohio State/Oklahoma game are relatively rare. This part of the schedule has improved, but not much, in recent years because of the switch to a real college football playoff.

Michigan would have loved to keep Notre Dame on the schedule every year. Notre Dame canceled that series.
