What does it mean to learn how to win

Doesn't the mere fact that a victory over the Browns could be deemed "celebration worthy" suggest anything to you?

As always, I am talking to a brick wall. I feel like I am trying to explain a religion to someone.

The feeling is mutual.

You would do some serious damage in the political forum. You should head on over.

I honestly can't believe you just said the Jags have had a winning culture since 2013 over a chant and dance/pizza party. I didn't think I'd be in shock by anything you have said, but this... wow!

Quote:Nope. The head coach instilled a winning culture in this team.

I need a good laugh, would you give me your definition of "winning culture"?

Welcome to the show. It's been like this( by this I mean way worse than it has ever been) with her the past few days. She's calling people stupid, idiots, and not as big of a Jaguars fan as her. Which I find funny since she's a Broncos/packers fan.

No it's that we don't all read in crayon.

WINNING CULTURE!

Other sports were quick to follow Coach Bradley's leadership and player motivation techniques.

When everybody else said we need to cut players and fire coaches every time the Jaguars lost a game.

Oh wait, that started before I joined the forum . . .

Learning how to win is developing enough confidence in yourself to play at your highest level when the game is on the line.

If you are second guessing yourself while under pressure you will make mistakes. Teams who know how to win don't let the moment get to them. They just go out there and execute.

Quote:I see this everywhere. People and analysts say the Jags have a good roster but they are young and don't know how to win. What does this really mean?

Fans and non-fans discuss.

"Knowing/learning how to win" is one of the more idiotic topics to emerge in sports talk media in the past decade.  It's just some dumb crappola meant to fill the time/airwaves/blogosphere when a franchise is rebuilding but still losing.

Teams ebb and flow. Build and rebuild. In the NFL they all have players and coaches that have plenty of winning in their past experience. They don't have to re-learn what that is, they just have to possess the talent and game-planning to get it done again with their current team.

These players and coaches know what confidence is. It's not some elusive fairy dust.

Wanting the team to improve by cutting dead weight doesn't make you a bad fan. Wanting to keep no talent hacks and Peter Principle coaches doesn't make you a good fan.

Its the new schtick since he cant start "should I change my name again" and "tell me why you don't like me" AW threads anymore.

My thing is if you really support the team you want them to win at all costs, because playing is about winning. But at the same time, you as a Jaguars fan would fully support all front office and coaching decisions whether you agree with them or not,  trusting everyone to do the right thing for the team. That is being a true fan, not "We suck because Bradley is a terrible coach" crap based exclusively on completely useless statistics.

You root for outcomes that are contrary to what would benefit the Jags (like rooting for the Broncos last week), I'd hold off on preaching about what constitutes being a "true fan".

No. What you described is a shill. A true fan is rarely a shill.

Fans are well within their rights to disagree with front office and/or coaching decisions and we can do so whIle still supporting the team. I can't proclaim "We suck because Gus Bradley is our coach." I don't know that for sure but I can say "I think Gus Bradley being our coach is part of the reason we suck."

The former comment is a statement of opinion masquerading as fact. The latter is merely a statement of opinion. There is a difference.

Edit: I also don't see how his W-L record during his tenure is a "useless statistic." Wins and losses are the only statistics that matter at the end of the day.

Note: I am skeptical of Bradley's ability to coach our team but I don't want him to fail. I don't even expect him to fail. I'm simply not stunned when he does indeed fail due to past precedent.
