What does it mean to learn how to win

A winning culture is in place when winning is the expectation. This will be reflected in the W-L record. Busting out a cheesy song doesn't count as installing a winning culture, even if Gus sunk weeks of thought into the lyrics.
"We believe in victory!" - Gus Bradley
"I don't want to believe. I want to know." - Carl Sagan
sometimes I think a lot of people forget that for the most part.....NFL players came from winning college programs.....as well as several free agents come from other teams that have W-L records on the winning side.
It's a very fine line between winning and losing in this league and the W often turns on a missed block here or a dropped pass there. This team just has to learn to win together. Once they do that with some consistency....look out.
Because Jaguars is our mantra

Quote:The feeling is mutual.Oh, wonderful, we go from having people who think that watering plants with Gatorade is a great idea to someone who actually does it and orders all of us to as well.
Bill Walsh was quoted as saying "Champions behave like champions before they're champions: they have a winning standard of performance before they are winners." To me, that's the difference between being a "winner" and a champion. Any dumb [NAUGHT|Y WORD RESCINDED] can "win", but only someone who is truly dedicated to the effort can become a "champion".
You become a Champion and have winning expectations by having a standard for everything that you do, and reinforcing that standard throughout whatever organization it is that you're a part of. Put a critical, but encouraging eye on every task that's laid out so that a player / person knows what success is. Then, as they start achieving that small success on an individual level, they begin to expect success at every opportunity. But that's not all. If you take out the emotional stigma of a loss and develop the mentality that every situation is an opportunity for growth / learning, then the people become self-correcting. As they fail, their attitude, effort, and enthusiasm does not waiver. They approach each situation individually and work towards achieving the standard, even during less-than-ideal conditions. Not all winners are champions, but all champions are winners.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

You're a troll on a message board that nobody respects except the few buy into your illness bull [BLEEP].. #FACT We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Nope. The head coach instilled a winning culture in this team.A WINNING CULTURE?! We haven't won anything! Please. Mods. I beg you. Ban this person like you banned TMD. Quote:My thing is if you really support the team you want them to win at all costs, because playing is about winning. But at the same time, you as a Jaguars fan would fully support all front office and coaching decisions whether you agree with them or not, trusting everyone to do the right thing for the team. That is being a true fan, not "We suck because Bradley is a terrible coach" crap based exclusively on completely useless statistics. You rooted for the Broncos to beat the Jags! GET OUT OF HERE.
Quote:When everybody else said we need to cut players and fire coaches every time the Jaguars lost a game.Link?
You either die as a good poster, or live long enough to become the troll.

So that makes you a bad fan based on your twisted logic.

People and analysts say the Jags have a good roster but they are young and don't know how to win. What does this really mean? It means they're not a team full of veterans right now that know how to feel out a game and stay disciplined when their backs up against the wall. That's basically it in a nutshell. It takes time for guys to mature. If you're lucky you get yourself maybe two to three decent draft classes together and hope that they stagger each other out in enough time to be a play-off team or more. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."
Find a way to pull out the close win. Just, kinda basically, learning how to do that. I suppose.

MJF, Look, I have defended you in the past but you have been way out of line the past few days. Dial it down a few notches will you? You are derailing and ruining almost every thread on the forum. Enough already.
Quote:I see this everywhere. People and analysts say the Jags have a good roster but they are young and don't know how to win. What does this really mean? Making the clutch plays late in games, in close games, to win.... simple as that... some teams always seem to not make the play to win, while others always, or generally seem to make the winning plays late... Last week we could have easily won, but once again didn't right at the end. That is a game that a team with playoff hopes has to pull off. Hopefully we will win the next one that comes down to the end like that... once we start winning those types of games regularly, we will have learned how to stay calm in the clutch and execute. Winning and losing is like riding a bike. Sometimes you make it to the jiffy store to buy some candy and sometimes you stop to talk to friends on the way. If you stop to talk to friends you won't get your candy because you end up playing video games or basketball all day. Once you get home you either hang it up in the garage or park it and use the kickstand. You have to make sure the tires aren't flat and that your reflectors work. Make sure you always wear a helmet! Unless girls are watching then just wear a ball cap...or just comb your hair. It's like that!
