And if we lose tomorrow...

Quote:Not really, give or take some wins but nothing of significance.I agree 100%, but I think where he's getting at is that people keep posting jokes about Gus and the way he acts along with his record since coming here in every debate about the guy. I'm not a huge Gus fan, but I think it's ridiculous to expect much more than what we've done. Look at the rosters/depth charts he's had. The only year you could have expected more than what we did was last year, but our defense had a whole lot of problems (and had a huge lack of talent outside of a few players)...our offense looked the part and did everything we could have hoped for from this staff. We need to start putting up the wins this year, but people need to take a step back when talking about Gus and what he's done the past few years. There wasn't much that could have changed unless Caldwell didn't go the whole "blow everything up and build the way he wants" approach which was the best way to go. Every coach would have struggled through the Henne/Gabbert years with a low talent level. Bortles had a very tough rookie year and our roster lacked depth and was VERY young. This team is young and has showed a lot of improvement, give it some time. We should be gelling by mid October!I've heard that every year for the past 8 years ![]()
We have a 68% chance of losing under this crap coach. It's not about what he should've done with previous rosters in the past, it's about how he managed games and developed what he's had. And if anybody says he's been decent in both those areas is a damn lie. This guy couldn't coach a team to a winning record with a pro bowl roster.

Yea 68% is generous, considering uncle Gussy has lost more than 75% of his games.

I will treat this game like all the rest of the games with Gus as HC.
I hope for the best, but I expect the worse. The outcome usually falls somewhere in between there, but, unfortunately, it's much closer to the worse side then the best side.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
On the road, on the west coast, against a dominant QB, in the second game of the season, that to me is not a must win game. If we go 0-2, I could still see us winning the next 3 games to put us at 3-2.
No reason to panic yet. It's a long season. Quote:Come on guys coaches take 5 years to develop... Since the NFL went to its current playoff format, teams going 0-2 have a twelve percent (12%) chance of making the playoffs. A blowout loss today starts the circular descent for Bradley. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

While I like 'drama' as much as the next person (I guess) if we lose to the bolts it isn't the end of the world. Personally, I see our best shot at our first season win against the colts in London. I'm most definitly am of the 'show me' mind set; I'm sick of the 'hype' about our supposed improvements. If we're 'really' improved then show it to me on the field in a regular game.
I don't like Gus's coaching style; the 'ra-ra-sis-boom-ba' stuff should be for the cheerleaders. However, the bottom line isn't style but results. To start calling for Gus to be fired after only two regular season games is ridiculous. Let's see how the season plays out; if we don't reach at least 8-8 by the end of the season (or if it become mathematically impossible for us to do so sooner) then I'm for telling Gus to hit the bricks... but not before. Give'em a chance with the (supposedly) improved team we have and let's see what happens. Until then, I remain optimistically skeptical; that is to say, I hope for the best but I'm not buying the hype anymore. This team has to prove it.
Quote:Since the NFL went to its current playoff format, teams going 0-2 have a twelve percent (12%) chance of making the playoffs. Yes, but historically, when young developing teams teams in a weak division lose their first two games against good teams, the percentage goes up to 50%. Okay, I made that up, but still, I'm sure you get my point. Every situation is different. Green Bay at home and San Diego on the road are difficult games. I won't be surprised if we go 0-2 and still win the division.
Quote:Not just lose, but get embarrassed...by an ailing team missing it's best receiver, and without their number 1 draft pick. If we get shredded again by Rivers, and it is a lop-sided win for the Chargers, what then? We just off the top of the Independent Life building. We show less advertisements to registered users. This 12% thing about making the playoffs includes all those years and the whole league where most divisions have at least one or two strong teams in them. An 0-2 start in a division like that is tough, no doubt. Let's not forget that the Jags reside in the AFCS. We'll see how it plays out today. But, the AFCS could very easily look like: 1-1 0-2 0-2 0-2 by the end of today. Maybe not, but it is very likely. Quote:Even if we win huge tomorrow, the usual Gus bashers will still have a firm grip on their pitchforks. I will be in that group. I don't support gus. I think Kahn is going to give him the season. He should be gone no matter what.

The talent on this team is being wasted currently. It's his overall frame of work that has me say that. The trend of his unprepared teams worries me.

The good news is that I believe the talent has reached a level to attract a big name coach at this point of it doesn't work out with Gus.

Gus very well could be that next big name in coaching if he can pull his head from his rear.. He's got the pieces, just needs to figure out how to use em.. |
