So who's really to blame on the crossing routes?

gratz
From the replay it looks like House, Gipson and Cyprien are deep leaving Ramsey Smith Poz and gratz underneath. Its a cover 3 with with Cyp and Ramsey switching roles. For whatever reason gratz carried his man way too far and left his zone. Looks like he was playing man. Interesting was seeing the communication between Cyp and Ramsey presnap making sure who is taking the deep third. This is a cutable offense by gratz if my eyes are true. They should pull that trigger on Colvins return We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Look at Gipson playing MASSIVE CENTER FIELDGipson is where he should be. Gratz however, I don't know what he is doing.
Quote:gratz This was confirmed on Jaguars Monday. I agree I would think long and hard about cutting Gratz to send a message if nothing else. Inexcusable.
Quote:Gipson is where he should be. Gratz however, I don't know what he is doing. OK he may be where he "should be"....but I've seen FS pick up reads on those type of routes and go make a play. I can't believe nobody saw the cross coming. The center fielder has to read that and jump on it. Gipson made his move after the ball was thrown. Meh, just my opinion.

It's hard to say who is at fault really without knowing the play. By appearances, Gratz abandoned his zone, but you don't know if it was a zone/man concept or anything without being on the field.
It's not just Gratz here though, those deep 3 are way too deep. There is no reason to have 4 guys 20-25 yards off of the line of scrimmage on 2 receivers, especially with a 4 man rush. It left 3 whole players to defend the entire field inside of 20-25 yards. Too much space.
Quote:Gratz should have been on the 35 yard line mirroring the other corner. Just to play Devils advocate. If Gratz is mirroring then his man is open. Unless Gipson was going to pick him up. I'm with the guys that say Gratz should have stayed home.

In fact those are probably our only 3 nickel plays, since we run that same Seattle defense. Re watching the play, Gratz followed the man he was covering way out into center field.

This is how our D lines up against certain trips formations.
![]() Its cover 1 man coverage. This means that Telvin and Cyp are essentially box LBs on this play and that Poz is on man coverage for the 3rd WR. San Diego spotted this mismatch and every other team will too unless they change things up.
That picture looks really bad on Grats, but I need the full clip (pre-snap included) to see how its lined-up and how everyone moves after the snap.
Gratz was in man when he should've been in zone. This was talked about on 1010 where the play was designed to funnel the WR right to where Gratz was supposed to be at for an easy tackle. The play went from a medium gain to a TD.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
Its Odrick and Fowler's fault. Crossing routs take time to develop and they should have sacked statue Rivers a lot.

this coaching staff has been here multiple seasons and the defense is still lost. i dont see anything here too complicated. in fact, it's damn predictable to opposing offenses.

In this particular case, I can believe Gratz isn't smart enough for this simple defense. This is a guy that tried to pay with bubblegum.

Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED! Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED!

On much talked about Poz-covering-Benjamin play, #Jaguars DC Todd Wash said "a young man," was supposed to be help over the top. |
