Not that I think Marrone is the answer, but it would be quite interesting to see if anything at all would change as far as preperation goes if Gus is ousted and Marrone given the reigns. Assuming they would have Marrone take over. It's actually a perfect way to do an on the job audition for next year.

Boselli and Prisco kind of talked about how its hard to just fire him because he is such a nice guy on Jaguars Monday.  

 

Unfortunately I kind of do feel that Gus will end up coaching the Jags longer then he should because of that exact thing.

 

Unless he turns it completely around, and I haven't seen 1 single thing that says that is even possible, he will eventually be let go, but it will end up being later then it should have been.

 

Heck, there are already plenty of fans who think he should already have been gone and I certainly can't blame them.

 

It will be up to Shad and Dave as to when it finally happens, and not before then.

Denver had the #4 defense last year (#1 in yardage). It was their first year under Wade Phillips defense, which was a lot different than Jack Del Rio's defense the previous year. They were playing at the #4 level of defense right out of the box. They won their first six games, and on average gave up less points in those games than their season average.

 

 

A player like Von Miller makes for a rare exception to the rule. For the most part, what I was saying holds true.


 

Heck, look at the Raiders defense with their own new additions. Right now they're on pace to set a new league record for most yards allowed by a defense.

It's Mularkey and Gene Smith all over again.... everyone has to defend anyone associated with this team as long as possible... then after they are fired they want to look back and say how awful they were.

On paper looking at him from Seattle, it was a decent decision. Honestly Dave got a players coach that would take the blame for the rebuild, and stay positive while doing it. Now he hires the coach that will get us wins, it was planned and he's a genius.
