Poll: Should Gus Bradley be Fired this season

Fire Gus Bradley (MERGED)

Quote:I agree that a coach can learn a lot between HCing jobs, but a coach should be able to learn something between 4 failed seasons, and Gus appears to have learned absolutely nothing between year one and year four.

Where is the logic that a coach can't actually improve during his first tenure?
Not saying one can't.

Just saying re-hashed HCs shouldn't be viewed as "bad" because they didn't work out in their first stint.

But how much a coach can improve... well that can be debated. Sometimes you just are what you are.

Tom Coughlin. Bring him in to establish a winning culture and groom his replacement:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...ain-in-nfl

"We'll see," he said. "It'll take two to tango. The 70-year-old-man stuff will be a factor, and I'm sure they'll know this would be a three- or four-year thing. ... They'll have to know the guy. If I have an opportunity to speak to anyone (about a coaching job), they'll see what I'd be able to do for them."

The touchy-feely "let's learn from this and get better" approach is not working. Does anyone doubt that Coughlin would be able to mold a winner out of our existing talent base?

I'm a fan of TC.  I just think he's a dinosaur in today's NFL.

I'd much rather have a more forward thinking coach that can relate to players.  Doesn't have to be a "players coach" or rah-rah guy, but I think there would be a big disconnect between Tom and the men in his locker room in the current era of the NFL.

Could he go 8-8 with this roster. Yeah, probably. Maybe better.  But it's not a long term fix and it's not the best fix either.

All good points. But I don't think anyone hires a 70-year old as a long-term strategy. You do it to win...now.

At this point, I'm over player's coaches. I'd rather have have a disciplinarian/serious-minded authoritarian type, ala Coughlin/Belichick, to "whip" this team into shape. Certainly that will rub some players in the locker room the wrong way, and perhaps alienate some of them. So be it. They know where the door is.

Ex: There's literally a ping-pong table in the locker room. This is not a tech start-up, it's an NFL franchise.

Good football coaches get the most they can out of the roster they have. If that's 7-9 or 8-8, it is what it is.

One thing that's painfully clear at this point: The Jaguars, based on their talent level, are clear underachievers.

If this team gets Coughlin, it's a winner in the first year.  No nonsense.  Professional.  Detail oriented.  And will rip guys a new one when they need it.

Quote:Marrone hasn't developed the OL into a unit that can be relied upon to be effective and consistent.  How is he the savior for this team when Gus eventually gets the boot?

No doubt, he'd be the interim head coach if the dismissal happens mid-season, but I don't see him as a viable long-term option.

Not to be someone who can't let go of the past, but I've spoken to some inside the organization who have indicated that Tom Coughlin would be a viable option to replace Gus.  The team is well aware that he feels like he's got more good coaching left in him, and from what I understand, they agree, and are not terribly concerned about the age.  It would be interesting to see if that actually comes to fruition.

What we saw yesterday SHOULD trigger the end of the Bradley era.  It won't happen this week, but if the team continues to look this bad through the bye, he'll be done.  There's no way the team can carry him beyond that and hope to keep the fans.

I'd settle for being a consistent winner right now.

Quote:LOL at Nick Saban.

He has shown that he isn't cut out for the NFL.
He went 9-7 with a dolphins team that went 4-12 the season prior and 6-10 the year after 10 years ago, not sure how you can dismiss him given such a small sample size.

Not to mention Joey Harrington was the starting QB during Saban's second year. Had Miami signed Drew Bree's over Culpepper, Saban would probably still be coaching in Miami.

9-7 to 6-10 to quitting. It doesn't take a large sample size to realize he couldn't stand coaching in the NFL.

The NFL isn't his style and he knew it. That's why he quit.
