I think Mike Smith will be the head coach next season

Quote:I don't care if the're a 'defensive' or 'offensive' minded coach. We always ping pong back and forth thinking it's going to make some kind of a difference, just get a good coach.I think Smith could be a good coach here, because he already has been. Don't blame him too much for the Falcons' slide. That's mostly on the GM. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I wouldn't mind Mike Smith, not my top choice, but far from my last.
I just don't want to be the team trying to "find that high upside new guy" I was all for it with the Gus hire, I'm ready for a guy that we know will get results. And Smith has done that.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:And the Falcons had good defenses? And the Seahawks didn't with Gus Bradley?
I would not mean this. As long as he brings in a new OC and DC

What about Lovie Smith?
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
Quote:No.Why not Lovie Smith? He took the Bears to a Super Bowl and another conference championship. Regarding the topic, I wouldn't mind Mike Smith, either. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Whomever they bring in needs to be more flexible with the scheme for the sake of putting the best players on the field and maximizing their chance of getting an assignment they will excel at. On defense that probably means we should be in a 3-4, but, it certainly means that the scheme is wrong if it's the reason Myles isn't on the field.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
Wouldn't be my top choice but I could see it. Didn't Dave work with Smith in Atlanta?
Quote:Why not Lovie Smith? Based on what transpired with the Bears since the 2012 season when they went 10-6 but didn't make the playoffs, it's fair to say that the Bears have greatly regressed since Lovie Smith. Maybe John Fox and co. will turn things around in Chicago. He's a quality HC. But the Bears last few seasons demonstrate that Lovie Smith did a good job with what he had to work with.
Quote:Why not Lovie Smith? And coached the Bucs to a 2-14 record.

Please stop with the 3-4 talk unless you want Telvin out the door...which is nuts because he's actually probably in the top 3 players in this defense right now.
Quote:And coached the Bucs to a 2-14 record. But he also improved upon that by 4 games in his 2nd season with a rookie QB. I'm not saying Lovie Smith would be the ideal HC for the Jaguars. But teams in general could do MUCH worse than someone like Smith with a proven winning track record. Quote: But he also improved upon that by 4 games in his 2nd season with a rookie QB.The guys on the roster now would more readily fit his defensive schemes. There would be no big DE. Fowler and Ngakoue would start. There would be no OTTO. I think Jack and Telvin Smith would start. The one concern I might have are the corners. I think putting Ramsey in a zone would waste his talents to a certain degree, even though he showed excellent zone awareness on that tipped pass that got picked. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Lovie smith or Mike smith. One of the two will be the next head coach

Telvin could play next to Jack as an ILB in a 3-4. He may be a bit undersized, but I don't think he'd have a problem. There's a roll for him in a 3-4
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:The guys on the roster now would more readily fit his defensive schemes. Good points. The Jaguars certainly would have viable 3 Technique options for the ' Tampa Two.
Hopefully some team will fire a good coach in a bad situation, and we get them.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
