I think Mike Smith will be the head coach next season

Quote:Will we be attractive? While we have talent, we also will have a lameduck GM who will be in a win-or-else situation in the last year of his contract and a QB who may has not definitively established himself as a franchise guy. I'm not sure if we'll be as attractive as we think because of these two factors. Khan will have to extend Caldwell at the very least to give coaches some sense of job security. We will be very attractive, say what you will about Blake but a 23 year old QB what that kinda ability would have coaches drooling for this job, plus two 1,000 WRs, JT and Lee, and those young studs on defense. We will be a good job no matter what anybody thinks, unless its an ego manic coach like Chip Kelly who wants all his own guys. Would love for Coughlin to come here and finish his career here, just have his replacement grooming on the staff like NYG had, 2 or 3 years of Tom getting this team back to the playoffs would be great, we have most of the pieces so it wont be some big rebuild.

He has accumulated so much talent on this team that it's kind of scary how good they can become. The problem is the fact that they're not being utilized to their full potential. 2 possible elite pass rushers. Jackson, Marks, Day, Miller on the inside. Telvin and Jack LBs. Ramsey, Colvin, Prince, House at corner. Gipson and Cyp (who has played well this year in his natural spot) at the safeties. Bortles, Hurns, ARob, Lee, Greene, Thomas, Ivory, Yeldon and some good pieces on the Oline. Can some positions be upgraded? Of course they can but that's the same with every team. This team is loaded and is a big reason why some analysts picked the Jags to win the division. The problem here is the HC. He's complete garbage and has never been able to get the most out of this team. 5 wins last year against the easiest competition he will ever see? Should have been fired last year and then tried to hire Hue Jackson.
If it were me... I'd get Josh McDaniels. The first time didn't work out, he was too young. But that dude has had a chance to go back for a graduate level education under the master.
I'd at least bring him in, see if he's got good answers for what went wrong in Denver, what he's learned since then, who his first & second choices for OC & DC would be, & his philosophy on team building. If he can answer those questions with intelligent answers, I'd hire him in a heartbeat. He'll probably get Mike Vrabel for DC.

I would trust Mike Smith or Mike Shula with the head coaching position here. Neither of them are great, but neither of them can be as bad at it as Gus.
I'm just exhausted from 5 win seasons, man. It has to stop.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Quote:I'm confused as to why you think we have a lame duck GM.he'll be a lameduck GM because he will be in the last year of his contract. That's what lame duck means. Do you really think Khan is going to extend him considering he has not won at all? "A man with no sauce is lost.

Quote:Just because we have talent doesn't mean we will be an automatic hotbed for coaching vacancies. Yes, I understand there are only 32 HC jobs in the NFL, but there will be other vacancies this off season. You got talent, you're in Florida, you have a rich owner, and you're in what is perceived to be a weak division. You won't get guys more concerned with their appearance, guys looking at New York or LA... high profile, high maintenance bark worse than their bite coaches. You'll get a roll up his sleeves get to work coach. Jim Schwartz is another guy I'd be looking at.

Josh McDaniels makes sense. Hell he won a playoff game with you know who playing QB.
Have you seen my baseball?

I thought his job was to accumulate talent but I guess he has to be the HC too. The talent is on this team and I think Khan does extend Caldwell. We show less advertisements to registered users. Was it Fox? I thought it was McDaniels...my bad.

Quote: Do you really think Khan is going to extend him considering he has not won at all?Yes. It's very possible. Caldwell has received praise from pundits and league executives in spades for his drafting and FA acquisition. I actually think that Dave is an asset in acquiring a quality HC. Khan would be ill-advised to judge him solely on the team's record.

Quote:Yes. I've got mixed feelings about this. The GM needs to get the coach players he can work with, not the highest ranked player on Yahoos mock draft. Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones... not GM worthy, but they have an eye for talent.

We don't know what the talent level is on this team because the coaching is bad. That's the problem. We don't know how good Caldwell is at his job.

<p style="text-align:center;">But that same man can get lost in the sauce."
Wouldn't it be cool to have a proven coach like BB or Andy Reid for just one year, just to see what he could get out of our players?
Have you seen my baseball?
It's either going to Cowher, Fisher, or Miles.
I ain't no monkey... I'm an ape.
![]() Quote:I've got mixed feelings about this.Within the bolded lies the problem. This coaching staff has shown an inability to get production out of a wide array of highly rated prospects across the board. We're left asking "what players CAN this staff work with?" Especially when you are still seeing repetitive mistakes from guys in their third year in the system - the player development must be questioned more than the acquisition. Also - DC has acquired a number of players that on paper were tailored very well to Bradley's defensive scheme. I think DC has been pretty specific that way. The worst position group (OL) has suffered in this regard as Gus made an OC change year two and switched from primarily ZBS back to a more traditional blocking scheme. So the first wave of signings and draft were intended to fit a different scheme along the o-line. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

He's one I'm really interested in. I would imagine he's learned from his mistakes, and at the very least, has asked BB what he could have done differently/better. As you said, at the very least he should be interviewed.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
I'd like to get Ken Dorsey as the OC. Dorsey has worked wonders with Cam and can certainly help Blake with the mental aspect of the game.
Quote:We don't know what the talent level is on this team because the coaching is bad. That's the problem. We don't know how good Caldwell is at his job.I would disagree. I would argue that many players on this team have flashed their talent DESPITE Gus's coaching. Ramsey, A-Rob, Hurns are just a few that immediately come to mind. |
