Blake's throwing motion

#41

Quote:Why does he seem to be going back to his throwing motion as a rookie? He is taking too long to get rid of the ball. If this was brought up before I apologize and mods can delete. I'm thinking this might be why he is off on most of his throws now. He needs to get back to the shortened more compact delivery and get rid of the ball. End of rant.

Agreed, but such a technique change requires good coaching which is something we don't have. We need to bring in a QB coach who is known for developing young talent and getting the most out of their talents. I truly believe Blake has the possibility of being a top 5 QB someday, but he has to keep from trying to do too much all at once and he needs a coach to work with him everyday on shortening his release.

Lol,, oh brother!

I will say though:

I remember when Donovan McNabb was going through a very rough patch. Andy Reid "benched" him around halftime of a game, and let the backup take over.

When McNabb came back to play (the very next week iirc), he seemed like a "new" QB. McNabb getting pulled for a while actually did work, bringing him back to form.

If Bortles continues this suckfest for the next couple games, I wouldn't be "opposed" to seeing him pulled out for a half of a game. Pull him out for a half,, put him back in to start the next one. Maybe it'll work.

I say I wouldn't be opposed to it ONLY if he continues to struggle, AND he gets back in for the start of the next game.

Hope it doesn't get there.

Quote:I tried throwing a nerf football just now like Blake, and it just didn't feel right, I would compare my throwing motion to gabbert
A nerf ball huh? Interesting. How about how you release on Madden?

He's pressing. Playing frustrated and confused and desperate.

Why can Gus never just answer a question?  (PRESS) Are Blake's mechanics off? (GUS) "Well, his accuracy is up.

(PRESS) Do you miss having a fullback? (GUS) "Not having Ben Koyack out there altered our frame of thinking"

Can't make this stuff up.

It's called coach speak. Everyone does it.

That's true. And I've always accepted weavy coach/ player talk, of course. But at this junction, nobody wants to hear coach speak and weaving around truth, people want some real answers. Im curious to know just what these reporters and journalists are asking about and its time to shoot straight about all of this.

Quote:It's not just his throwing motion. He stares at his intended receiver. The safeties are reading his eyes, and the slow delivery makes it easy for them to intercept.

Before Sunday's game, the talking heads were saying that BB should throw to ARob, even if he was covered because he'll fight for the ball. After BB's interceptions they were chastising him for throwing into coverage.

I have noticed him failing to look off dbs.

Quote:I think he's more comfortable throwing that way. In the heat of the moment, he just forgets everything he's learned and reverts back to natural Bortles.

BINGO!!!

With no threat of a doing any damage on the ground the DB's are licking their lips. If he continues with this throwing motion he is going to have costly fumbles where d ends knock the ball out of his hand during his long delivery.

When was has throwing motion ever good? Pretty sure it has been talked about even before he became a Jag. I don't care if he throws it underhanded as long as the play is executed!
