Only reason Germany can come close to affording its socialism is because they don't have to fund a military. Take out all the US military bases, make them pay a reasonable amount to NATO, force them to deter Russia with THEIR military might, maybe even let them build a few bases around the world and invest in carriers to project their power, and suddenly their socialism becomes a lot less affordable.

No need to take it personally. I'm sure Australian made isn't a huge selling point either elsewhere in the world. But any product here that is manufactured in Germany will be clearly labelled as such as it is a marketing point of difference.

 

If American products were of such high perceived quality then there's no need to worry about manufacturing moving abroad people will pay a premium around the world like they do for German made products.

But we already have socialism here, and we've had it to a long time. Educacation, social security, first responders, national defense, roads, etc...

The fact is that the era of liberalism is long gone. The new world of interconnectivity and globalism arrived around the nineties. And for better or worse, this new world isn't going anywhere. In this world, the reliance on each other can't be cut without major negative repercussions.
