Is Blake Bortles injured?

The damage was to his psyche when they kept Sprinkles.

Borts has enlarged areolas which effect his throwing motion. Heard someone paper cut his right areola, which consequently inflamed the left one. Blakey Borts!
I think he's being asked to do too much. You have to keep in mind that eventhough it's year three he's technically started just over two full seasons worth of football with 34 career NFL starts. Caldwell and Bradley didn't want him to play at all his rookie year but they had no choice. They knew he wasn't ready then. I think when Olsen is capable of calling a fair and balanced offense when the running game is capable of shining with 4.0 YPC on average and they're keeping Bortles out of 3rd and impossible. He'll be able to win more games and keep his arm more fresh and accurate this season. We had a brutal start man. Green Bay is a play-off team. The West Coast is never kind to our franchise. Baltimore when healthy with Flacco is also a capable play-off team. We caught a break finally by playing against a team that's about in line with our talent level on offense. The defense should have some easier opponents to work against now after the bye week. But I'd like to see this offense continue running at a 50/50 pace. Bortles needs to be limited to 20 - 25 pass attempts per game. When he starts getting into that 35 - 45 range it's not good for this team.

I'm not sure 20-25 attempts is realistic/sustainable in today's NFL. Ive always though the magic number was 30. I've come to the place where I believe you need a Minnesota or Denver level defense and a purely conservative/game manager type QB.
We have neither. The defense might eventually get there but I don't ever see Blake being a conservative QB.

You don't draft a qb 3rd overall and then limit him to 25 pass attempts and make him a game manager.
He's not supposed to throw 50 times either, but it needs to be more balanced. Now if we get a team that is playing the run and daring him to throw, we need to be able to put it up in the air 40 times and get us a W.

Cut him or play Chad Henne? Also, for someone who has poor accuracy he's at 62 completion % so please stop with this myth like he's a worst passer than Tim Tebow. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Coming off a game Bortles outplayed Andrew Luck. Jags fans are incredible ignorant.
I asked him, he said no, he is not hurt.

I can be critical of his play without asking him to be cut, let's be serious. 62% completion isn't great first of all... And it's especially not great when you take into account that the majority of his passes are shorter than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. Sorry but throwing 10 times to TJ Yeldon in one game doesn't make you accurate. It's a widely known fact that Bortles doesn't have good accuracy, especially while in the pocket. Hopefully he improves his mechanics, his accuracy, and his decision making. He is young so there is still some upside there.

The entire offense has looked regressed so far this season. League average but we were hoping for better. Bortles looks like Leftwich back there these days with that stationary windup.
No pain, no gain.

At least Leftwich threw tight spirals when the ball finally left his hand, and was a beautiful deep ball passer, and not a turnover machine. Blake has upside, and still a likely franchise prospect, but something is amiss. With our Jags, if it's not one thing, it's another.

I think he is smart enough to let him just play. Look at his production in a fast powered offense. In 2 minutes drills he excels. However for some reason the coaches can't see what is in plain sight. Some qbs are not meant to be super accurate all the time but can win games where it counts. Cause take chances down the field.
We have the playmakers let him just sling it to our receivers and let um make plays. The whole tweak this and tweak that. He threw over 30 tds last year. Just let him do his thing. Some throws will result in int's. But that is a whole lot better then check downs. Cam slings it and is pretty good, Farve used to sling it, Wilson Slings it. Jim Kelly did, and a ton of others.

Check downs as the words signify implies checking down when the mid range/deep options aren't available. I am okay with that within reason. We complained that he slung it too much last year resulting in the picks and low % completion. The idea is to remain efficient, eat clock and put up points, whatever means are employed. The confidence and hunger he displayed last year, which now appear waning, concerns me. But, tis a needed bye, and a relatively young season. Hopefully, he'll regain his moxy.

So asking a guy who slings it to be more cautious and throw shorter makes no sense. We didn't lose all those games due to the offense. The d was terrible and couldn't sack anyone and qbs had all day to throw the ball. They should let Blake be and do his thing. He had 35 tds and 18 ints. which isnt terrible cam who made it to super bowl had 35 tds 10 int and a much better o line and a top notch defense. So those who think Blake was to blame for the lack of wins are highly mistaken. I say let the kid play.

They stop our run game with 4 lineman drop 7 in coverage and there's nowhere to throw the ball, long or underneath. Our running game is so pathetic that the QB leads the team in rushing most games.
