I'm not assuming anything. I'm saying you cannot just absolve someone of activity that was uninvited because the guy who did it SAYS.. they let me. And to take one side of the story as gospel truth is absurd. This goes for everything from improper touching to date rape to blatant sexual assault. Regardless of the situation, you cannot logically just say.. oh the guy said it was cool.. so.. in all cases it must be cool.

My issue is with the notion HE SAYS women let him do these things (kiss them or paw at their crotch uninvited) because he is a star. And because HE SAYS women let him do this all the time.. it must be true. That is the logic which has been put forward and to make a blanket argument that all instances should refer to the point HE SAYS they all let him do these vile things is pure manure. You cannot make a blanket excuse absolving him of any impropriety without even knowing the name or face of the woman he is talking about. Without hearing her side of the story. My issue is this notion the guy says he didn't do anything wrong, we don't need to hear from the woman. That goes for anyone. Not just Trump. You would not make this argument for a general person in society, but you will defend this argument when it comes to Trump.

No, you just invoked the memory of another infamous linguistic argument.

 

In the case under discussion, acceptance, or not, is exactly NOT the point. There are two levels at which Trump can be judged from his recorded statements, neither of which result in him being anything less than a disrespectful, arrogant jerk.

 

If he wasn't joking, that he has actually walked up to women and grabbed their crotch, he's a disrespectful, arrogant jerk. If it wasn't accepted, it's sexual assault, even if it happens without him getting slapped or reported. He seemed to feel empowered to do it because of his star status. If he's right, does it make him any less of a disrespectful, arrogant jerk? I mean, seriously, what adult does that, even if they will get away with it? Pimps, maybe.

 

If he was joking, and it was just locker room banter with the guys...oh wait, he wasn't with his buddies, bonding after a tough day on the course, he was with strangers on a bus, yet he felt comfortable enough to talk about using his star status to grope and kiss women. He can't help himself so he keeps a breath freshener handy so as to leave a good impression. He can't sully the memory of what he assumes will be a special moment for the objects of his attention with his bad breath. I suppose in that way he was a little bit less disrespectful.

 

It's just one more indication Donald Trump is a disrespectful, arrogant jerk. Nothing we didn't know before. It doesn't necessarily disqualify him for the presidency, but it does matter when evaluating his character.

Not talking about what was said or what is true.


I am talking about the defense he (or any person) cannot be in any way condemned for his (their) actions simply by saying "they let me" do whatever. That is the logic which has been applied. That is the blanket excuse given. Trump says these women let him do these things because he is a star, therefore these women must have just let him do these things. You don't need to have been there or even talk to the women he is talking about. The argument is that since he says they let him, there is nothing more to see. Because it references Trump apparently the electronic impulses in the brain are making this impossible to grasp.
