Lame. Jacksonville is a much better college football city then Tampa.
LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.
Tampa seems to always beat Jacksonville out for events. Jacksonville needs some kind of theme park or something close by to drive up the tourism friendly feel or their always going to be second fiddle to cities like Tampa, Miami and even Orlando.

We have the Silver Fox.. What more do they want?!?

Wasn't we supposed to get a Busch Gardens way back when?

Disappointed but I hope we continue to bid for the championship. Potential developments such as Seaglass at the Shipyards could help tremendously.
Aquarium, Naval museum, shopping, casino, soccer stadium, hotels and more residential will help transform our sports complex.
The proposed Seaglass would make Jacksonville the premiere city in North-Central Florida.

I have a friend who played for Michigan for 4 years. He said that playing in the Gator Bowl was terrible because they had nothing to do. When they went to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, they had events planned for them all week along with getting free time to hit up Bourbon Street.
Shocker! People regard Jacksonville as one of the worst places to ever host the Super Bowl. This was probably in the back of peoples minds when voting
In my opinion the National Championship should always be at The Rose Bowl. Dena baby! Lol

Teams competing in the Gator Bowl have events all week. That's not an issue. The issue is hotel rooms, or the lack thereof. We show less advertisements to registered users. From what Rick Catlett says, it's not a matter of IF Jacksonville gets one of these national championship games, but when.

The same Catlett that has allowed the Gator Bowl to slip so far in stature that it shares conference tie-ins with the Music City Bowl. Quote:The same Catlett that has allowed the Gator Bowl to slip so far in stature that it shares conference tie-ins with the Music City Bowl. Is Rick Catlett supposed to be able to print money so he can increase the payout to the teams? What would you recommend to counter the competition from other cities/bowls?

Fan bases don't care about them anymore. Not Rick Catlett's fault. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Wasn't we supposed to get a Busch Gardens way back when? I know six flags wanted to build off SR 214 in St. Augustine back in the 90's but the county put a stop to that quick.

I don't think the "lack of hotel rooms" is the reason my friend had x10 more fun in New Orleans than he did in Jacksonville. Last year, there was a good chance Michigan would be playing in the Gator Bowl and he was not happy about it. He was much happier they went to Tampa for the Outback Bowl. "Hotels" might be an issue on the logistic side of things, sure. I'm just passing out his thoughts on the bowl games he's participated in.

The NCAA and the bowl committees could care less how much fun the players have in their cities. Its all about how much those cities will pay out. If Tampa offers more money and incentives than Jax, they are going to get it. |
