Treestone, I did not see Fowler the entire first half.

 

An observation nobody else has mentioned yet is in the medical department. None of our players suffered a game-ending injury, which was good to see after watching two starters get knocked out in Week 4.

Not sure how much base vs nickel they played yet, but Fowler isn't on the field for base package unless they rotate him in for Ngakoue. 

 

(Odrick and Ngakoue are the ends in base)

 

When they were in nickel, Hoyer was making a lot of quick passes, so we saw lots of this:

 

You are right, the only time Fowler is in on base downs is when he is subbing for Ngakoue. 

I do remember Fowler having a nice hit on the QB on an inside stunt (seems the only time he actually gets pressure however).

I'm mystified by the lack of a running game. I still feel that this, more than anything else, will help Blake.  What's the problem, folks? Is is the offensive scheme that is causing our running game to fail?  Are Yeldon and Ivory just not that good? (I don't believe this).  Is it lack of holes/poor blocking?

We have discussed offensive line issues in many threads already. Most fans agree the problems are in front of Bortles, not behind him.

Blake has had some terrible luck this season. 3 interceptions that go right off the WRs hands. The Arob one this week was just flat out unacceptable. The run game has been putrid and that clearly effects Blake. Not to mention it takes this staff longer than any other staff in the league to realize something so obvious... Like how much better Blake looks at uptempo.


Blake needs to play better but he should have 3 less interceptions and about 3 more TDs.

I dont agree with this. Besides yesterday, a few of his interceptions off the recievers hands have been poor throws.

You don't have to agree but ARobs interception was awful this past week. 

 

That atleast gives him 9 TDs and 6 interceptions. Then, if we give him one of the other bad luck interceptions as an incompletion, he only has 5 interceptions.

 

These are all "what if" scenarios and his stats are his stats. He has not played well at times during this season. That's very clear. He also has not been helped by a bad run game.

I'm of the same mindset. I didn't see the AR15 interception as I was driving at the beginning of the game, but the two that I remember that were behind Marqise were very likely incomplete passes had they not bounced off his hands and into the waiting arms of a nearby defender (luck). Ultimately though, this all probably evens out with would-be interceptions that were dropped by the other team (more luck).

I just saw a replay of the final Ramsey pass breakup.  He showed good burst and closing speed in undercutting that route.  I didn't appreciate it from the TV angle.

 

Also saw the Myles Jack mic'd up clips, and he was more active than I gave him credit for.

On the Allen Robinson interception, I think people are being too hard on Blake Bortles. Robinson fell backward on a slippery field. If he stayed upright no way that ball gets caught by the Bears player behind him.

Ramsey pass breakup was indeed great and the replay allows to appreciate it even more. Such a great play.

 

I liked the Jack mic'd clip although I thought he played more snaps. He played 15 snaps vs Skuta's 14 snaps (although I don't know if Skuta was always the OTTO on his snaps or if he took any as a LEO), so it was quite balanced. 

 

I have to say that this OTTO position really doesn't allow the players to "shine", even in Seattle Bruce Irwin was the player you spotted less often in that defense. A more classic SAM role would be preferable in my opinion,
