This Google Fi intrigues me.

But I doubt the coverage ability.

Is Fi a phone, or is it a phone network?

I'm also intrigued by the Google Pixel.

A network that uses 3 major carriers and switches between them depending on coverage ability.

Cool, ok thanks!

I've spoken with my provider recently, they can offer me the same monthly fee as I'm paying now, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and 20GB data... I currently get 4GB data... decent.

I used Fi for the last few weeks. A week leading up to a vacation and then the two weeks while in Italy and worked flawlessly for me on my Nexus 5x. You need to have a Nexus or presumably one of the two Pixels but if you don't use a lot of mobile data or travel a good amount I think Fi is pretty great.

I am tethered to Verizon until they kick me off my unlimited plan but I would jump ship to Fi in a heartbeat should that change. It's pretty impressive watching it hop between networks to get the best connection and even more impressive that when I landed in Amsterdam for my layover it hopped right onto a network there and then did the same thing when I got to Italy. No international plans or fees either just you regular data usage is consumed. I really like that they refund you whatever portion of the data bucket you don't use each month.

Nice, thanks for the info! It sounds similar to what they have in Teslas.

It sounds great, the reason for my doubt is that I spend most of my time in an extremely rural area, I don't feel like any of the networks they're using would work well here. Their own coverage map shows only 3G speeds here.

Yeah that's kind of the problem with most of the non-verizon carriers. If you don't live in a city you have at best, one option and most times it's not one of the smaller carriers that Fi piggybacks on. Not much competition going on in the mobile arena in rural areas.

Yep. I tried to give T-Mobile a shot for a data sim and it's completely useless until I drive about 10 miles closer to Fresno.
