Going into the game, I felt very confident against them because they were so banged up.  But I give them credit, they played hard and I think they are well coached (though based on their boards, Bears fans don't seem to think so).

 

To me, the main two things the Bears are missing are good health and a stud QB.

 

Without question they need to overcome some health issues.  Also, look at who they have played and how close the losses were.  I'm of the belief that there is a very small gap between the better teams in the NFL and those with a losing record.

Blake has had some terrible luck this season. 3 interceptions that go right off the WRs hands. The Arob one this week was just flat out unacceptable. The run game has been putrid and that clearly effects Blake. Not to mention it takes this staff longer than any other staff in the league to realize something so obvious... Like how much better Blake looks at uptempo.

 

Blake needs to play better but he should have 3 less interceptions and about 3 more TDs.

 

This is not a new observation, there's a reason why Bortles was so much more productive in the 4th quarter last year. Why don't the Jags go to a no-huddle offense all game? It took the Bills to four straight Superbowls. Admittedly they lost them all, but the Jags haven't even played in one.


I've heard the excuse that the defense doesn't get a chance to rest when the offense goes no-huddle. You know what else causes that? Continually going 3-and-out because you aren't maximizing the talents of your players.

I just saw a replay of the final Ramsey pass breakup.  He showed good burst and closing speed in undercutting that route.  I didn't appreciate it from the TV angle.

 

Also saw the Myles Jack mic'd up clips, and he was more active than I gave him credit for. 


 

Kudos to both.

Zero chance.  Like me, she's completely devoted to being a fan of her squad.

 

I did get to enjoy our win in Cleveland a couple years ago from the front row, 50 yard line, Jags side...

 

I remind her of that often :p

 

 

The sad part is, we've BOTH failed to get the boys on board with either of our teams... they're still young though... there's time.

I'm not sure what is more concerning, the one read stuff or the rattled stuff.

 

If there is any thing that endeared him to Jaguars fans early on is that he was very aggressive and he went for the big play.  I don't know if he is being over coached into cautiousness, it's an evolution due to a shaky OL, if opposing defenses are particularly taking away the deeper stuff and forcing him to work underneath, or some combination of the above, but the idea that if something goes wrong, he either loses confidence or starts to press is bothersome.

 

But another thing is early on he went through his progressions.  You'd see his head turn from one read to the next.  I haven't noticed that as much this year, perhaps because as a 3rd year player, I didn't expect him to regress in that area.  I haven't seen the coaches film, but I'd hate to think he has regressed here too.  Don't you have the NFL.com all 22 stuff?  Can you or anyone else elaborate on this?

One thing I'm already noticing is that Olson is giving him some one read plays by design.  Made clear by the other receivers going into "blocker mode" very quickly.

Regarding the point in bold, I believe that it stems from his lack of confidence in his arm at the moment due to the wonky mechanics. Last year his arm was not perfect but you could tell he had the confidence in it to make every throw where ever it was.


This year you can see him hesitate just a fraction on most throws. It seems like he is having to over calculate routine throws because of his arm and this is leading to him having to focus more on a single receiver than he did last year when he had a snappier delivery, more velocity and generally more faith in his arm.

Sometimes he stares it down and it works anyway. Sometimes he stares it down and it doesn't work. Sometimes he checks two or three reads and makes a good decision. Sometimes he makes a read or three and makes a bad decision.

 

First one is him staring down Lee wham A-Rob is open on other side. Granted - it's got to be a quick read, but he had two options.

He's not doing it every play tho. Maybe he is hurt and not letting anyone know. Seems like a rib maybe?
