The NCAA and the bowl committees could care less how much fun the players have in their cities.  Its all about how much those cities will pay out.  If Tampa offers more money and incentives than Jax, they are going to get it.

 

If that is the only thing you are getting out of my post, then fine. The point is that there are cities that are much better tourist attractions than Jacksonville. Fans and players, just like tourists, are more interested in going to places with more things to do.

Teams competing in the Gator Bowl have events all week. That's not an issue.

 

The issue is hotel rooms, or the lack thereof. 

 

THis has been the issues since the last superbowl.....now its ten years later and the same issue....

 

I am assuming theres been no development of new hotels or anything. 

 

This is where hopefully, Khan's influence on the city can get things moving in the right direction.

See...thats what I'm thinking.....Jax needs to develop the area between the stadium and the beaches, and incorporate the beaches as part of the tourist lure. 

 

But its also important to have a vision too. 

 

Could a future stadium be put elsewhere more central to the development.....or could/ would it be better to just develop more stuff to do near the current stadium?....

 

Both things might not be mutally exclusive, too.

It's true.  You've never been to the places you're talking about.  It would be like me telling you how to clean up Jersey.  But then, I've spent more time in Jersey than you have in Jacksonville.

I think if you asked me today what area would be best for stadium location, I'd say somewhere in the Southside near St. Johns Town Center.  It would be a great atmosphere especially after the game (I'm not taking into consideration traffic and exact location, but there is land available).  As far as the future, I think down town has great potential, but it would take someone with a vision and resources to make it happen.  Obviously we have that person in Khan.

Disappointed but I hope we continue to bid for the championship. Potential developments such as Seaglass at the Shipyards could help tremendously.

 

Aquarium, Naval museum, shopping, casino, soccer stadium, hotels and more residential will help transform our sports complex.

 

Jacksonville version of the above:

 

Aquarium - baby gators outside of adventure landing

Naval Museum - Old Navy store @ the Town Center

Shopping - Town Center

Casino - Since the Casino Boat closed, we're relegated to Lotto Tickets

Soccer Stadium - UNF hosting our new team which is 2 divisons down from the MLS.

Its a stip club issue. Written several years ago as to why tampa miami new orleans seam to get the superbowl is they have the best Strip clubs. Jax lack of stip clubs is one of the reasons we dont get events.
