I think that because of the ugly loss, the Jaguars go out on Thursday night and light it up.  I have a feeling that the offense is going to finally move the ball down the field and finish drives with points one way or another.  I also think that the defense finally gets some turnovers and holds the Titan's running game in check.

 

I don't expect a blowout win by any means, but I think the team improves the second quarter record to 2-1 with a "mini bye" before they face the Chiefs.

 

The whining and crying fans need to get a hold of themselves.  The season isn't even half over yet, and when you look at how the league is shaking out right now, we haven't lost to any "bad" teams.

 

I won't predict a final score, but I do think that the Jaguars pull off the win.

We'll see. Your screen name says it all. You believe. You're the optimistic one. Not the pessimistic one. I can respect that. We all want to see this team win. That's the whole point of watching them play. But as far as the fan base angst. Listen, it may not be half way over yet season wise. But statistically and historically, when teams start off this bad. It normally means your season is over pretty early on. That's not to say the improbable could happen. But the odds are stacked against you when you can clearly see this team is nowhere near what a competitive team should look and feel like.

Take a step back and look at the overall picture.  1st quarter of the season the team went 1-3.  Second quarter of the season is under way and the team is 1-1.  It's not as bad as most people think.

 

I predicted a 6-10 record with the Jags being 4-2 at this point. It's a lot worse than my worst nightmare. And the worst part is that we are stuck with the worst coach in modern NFL history for at least the rest of the season.


 

(That's a lot of "worsts" for just one team)

The season, like it or not, from a historical and statistical point of view is technically over. Fans don't give up on their favorite team. I agree. They just look forward to the next season. You do realize if we have another losing record this season that it officially marks nine or ten straight seasons without a winning record and play-off appearance? That will wear down any fan base. The whole point of playing any competitive sport is to win as much as possible and make it to the big dance. Fortunately I wasn't foolish enough to drink the off-season hype and kool-aid. I didn't expect this team to be 10 - 6 or 11 - 5 with a play-off appearance. I was aiming to see this team flirt with maybe 6 - 10 or 7 - 9. Now it's looking more and more likely with the lack of running game, mental errors in the penalty department and turnover prone offense that we will be lucky to see them finish 4 - 12 or 5 - 11. Does it upset me as a fan? That they couldn't hit even my lowest of low standards and expectations? Sure it does. But most fans will have that same sentiment and will be quietly tuning in or showing up to watch them play. But that's the life of a fan.

So our offense does really well. Our defense holds their run game in check and yet it's not a blowout?

Buddy. The only way that the Jags win this division is by beating teams with winning records.... which is something Gus has not done once.

 

Jags still have games against Buffalo, KC, Denver, Minnesota. So based on the Jags track record against good teams, thats 0-4. Which puts the Jags at 2-8. Now lets say the Jags split with the rest of our division (which is the most likely scenario) That gives them 2 more wins (1 more against the Titans and one against the Texans). So now we are at 4-11. Throw in whatever result you would like against the Lions and the record is either 5-11 or 4-12. 

 

Does that win the division? No way.

Another win against a bad team does not change anything about this team or it's outlook. It just postpones the inevitable.

So far this season our only wins have been against (relatively speaking) 'bad' teams, and those have been close. Yes, Thursday night on national television would be a great time to come out of the funk and 'light it up'. However, I've witnessed very little so far this season that suggest to me that such a thing is likely to take place. In fact, I've observed more to support the idea that we're more than likely the ones who will get lit up than our opponents. 

 

When you get down to 'brass tacks', to be viewed with any respect at all in the pros', you have to be able to defeat relatively good teams. I've not observed that characteristic in the Jags at all so far this season. We struggle for a few wins over comparatively 'bad' teams. So even if we do manage a win Thursday, (and that would be asking a lot) it would be against another relatively bad team. I doubt if we could sweep the tacks regardless. So a win Thursday night would only postpone the inevitable, though it would at least spare the fans of another loss on national television.

I would have a stronger feeling if the "arrow" was pointing up.  This team has not show the ability to do even one thing right.  Okay I'll change that to hey look we can punt and kick this year.

 

Defense - Looks vanilla, shows mental breakdowns, is improving but has one "play" that stands out (Ramsey pass defense)

 

Offense - struggling against itself to execute basic plays.  Doesn't have a go to play.  Not showing any areas of strength and has picked up weaknesses.

 

Special Teams - Can kick and Punt.  Return game has mental lapses.

 

 

The problems we have are either a lack of talent, lack of coaching or both.  Do you believe we have a 4 win roster during year 4?
